Been looking around the forum here for a few weeks. Now that I got the game I thought I would do my first post. I haven't seen too many threads on Xbox Live Online Play so I thought I would start one.

Last night I only played the World Tour mode with 2 buddies so I did not get to experiment online. Actually, when I was browsing through the menu's I didn't even see where to go to get online. Speaking of the menu's I think that was my only knock on this game is it is kind of hard to navigate.

Anyways, what can you do online? Can my friend and I for instance go online together and join up with 2 other random people? Can I go on solo and join up with 3 randoms? Say I have friends in the game already, can I go on solo and join up with friends, or can a buddy and I join up with friends? Better yet, say I have 3 people in the band, can we go and just get one person?

I think I would be most interested in doing co-op things online, not sure if there are battle modes, but I am not really into the battle thing. Just want to jam with people across the globe or my brothers who are in school across the country.

Besides the questions I asked above, to generate more discussion I ask: how is the online experience for people that have been online thusfar? I read about the technology Harmonix developed to completely eliminate lag issues due to different connections. Just curious how that is working out, if it is working out.

Discuss. Oh and thanks for the responses! ROCK ON!

Thanks for the reply. Where in the menu is online play? Under solo or multiplayer? Also, just to clarify you said you played with friends, were your buddies at their respective houses or were they with you at yours and you all went online together?

**REPLY IS FOR POST BELOW ME, NOT SURE WHY I AM ABOVE**

forum is screwed up putting posts all over the place...

I had 3 others in the house. I played online against a few people at drums, and at one point me (on bass) and a friend (on drums) in the house, played aith a remote guy (not local) guy on guitar for a couple songs as a band (band quickplay). It's all under multiplayer.

It's been great so far. Though it was certainly taking it's sweet time finding matches last night (but, that's somewhat to be expected).

I played a couple tracks, my friend and I with a 3rd, XBL guy as a band. Then we played a number of drum faceoffs (Score Duel I think it's called). All worked quite well.. some ***** bailed on the song midway cause he didn't suck as bad as I did.

That said.. I dunno if there was just a lack of medium drummers when were we playing but I never got hooked up with anyone fairly ranked. The first match (to be expected since the servers don't how how good you are until you play some people) the guy had a 10 ranking. That was fine.. but then the next three I played, I ranked 10 then 13 and then a 16, but it kept finding me people ranked 1. Again, probably just an issue of enough people playing that level, on drums, online, with any kind of history to have an accurate ranking. So I would expect that experience to improve over the next few days as my playing ability levels out and more people get online and play matches.

All that said, when playing as a band online... I'm not entirely sure I heard note drop outs when the remote player missed notes... though maybe the excitement was just too high to notice it either way. I have to assume that works properly. Having the remote player greyed out though... oddly it takes something away from the feeling of having that remote person as part of the band.

Also.. I couldn't actually notice how to start a match... I'm sure it's in there, but it didn't stand out.. the interface decisions in the game are.. interesting. Feature, functionality wise.. the game rocks.. but there is some odd interface decisions.. you move left right to scroll through options in one area, where you move up down elsewhere.. minor complaint.. but it's made finding my way around vaguely confusing at times..

For instance (sorry, this isn't online related) one of the band members base shirts could have art put on it.. but we couldn't find a way to do it with another band members shirt. Couldn't find the shirt they had on as "purchased" in the store. She was Punk and we were looking in the Punk clothing store where we found our punk guys, punk shirt. I dunno.. maybe I missed something, but again, somewhat confusing perhaps clouded by excitement. I'm sure with the time I'll be putting into this game, I'll know it like the back of my hand before long.

I guess the point.. I wouldn't judge too much of the game until you've had a couple days to play it and flesh out all the nooks and crannies.. it's a very deep game.

That sounds so freaking rad. Anyone else have good/bad experiences online?
