360, Bad Disc

I picked up the disc only version of Rock Band last night, popped it into my 360 and it just said "Play DVD" which was odd... I tried it and it said "insert this disc into a 360". So I ejected, tried a few more times, powered off and on, etc. Always got the same error. Tried another game, worked fine. Tried cleaning the disc. Tried cleaning with alcohol. Blah blah. Always the same error. I have "heard" of this issue being fixed by boiling the disc or some such but didn't really feel like looking that method up. Returned the disc (to Best Buy, a different one) and got an exchange and this one worked fine.

Many other people out there having this problem?

Anyway, love the game so far. The visuals are what GH3 should have been. I do think the Hammer On / Pull Off graphic is just a touch too subtle, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Mine came with 3 scratches on it. Deep ones. No problems yet, which is a relief because the scratches go all the way down to the hole in the CD. If it does fail, I may take a trip to Blockbuster to rent Rock Band. That'll fix the scratch problem.

I've had issues in the past with the laser on my 360 DVD drive that gives the exact problem you experienced.

Obviously you seemed to get it corrected with a new disc, so I'd chalk it up to a bad pressing.

Is it possible that I got the last pressed CD off of that batch and got scraped by the seperator? I have heard of something along that line happening.
