Been waiting for months to play...as has everyone. I usually don't get all the new games when they release but mom's bf does. We have been talking about RB for MONTHS. So, I have been very excited knowing he would probably buy it. I called our local BB yesterday and "yup, we got a whole stack of 'em". <thinking> "Sweet, I am gonna be playing Rock Band tonight". I just happened to call and tell him they had it in case he was going by Best Buy(hinthint). So I finally get off work and head to mom's house to play. Imagine my disappointment to walk in and find him playing COD4(which is great on it's own) which I was not expecting. So I sit down and ease into COD thinking, "oh well, maybe next week". Half hour later he shows me his sweet new COD4 strategy guide. It went like this.
me-"hey, a strategy guide, you didn't have that last night when I was here playing"
him-"meh"
me-"where did you get that?"
him-"Best Buy"
me-"you went to Best Buy?"
him-"meh"
me-"but you didn't get rock band?(tear forming)"
him-"yeah, I got it? it's in the other room still sitting there in the box(unopened)"
me- BOING!(drool forming)

Well, I was about to really press him about us playing when mom returned home and here's how THAT conversation went and a pretty good explanation of why we weren't already rocking out.
mom-"did you get a new xmas present today"
him-"what" (deer in headlights face)
mom-"your new purchase, you spent 200 bucks the week we go on vacation"
him-"okay"
my mom then makes the most wacked out off-the-wall statement of all time(I have been a gamer for more than 25 years):
mom- "how come you have to have every new toy the day it comes out?"
UH, MOM, BECAUSE HE CAN. Same reason anyone else buys everything they want.
So, I will be leaving to go to mom's right after work to see if I can really play RB today or just read the side of the box...AGAIN...
