Hey everybody,
I looked through the first 3 or 4 pages and didn't see anything being posted about this so maybe i'm ******ed but somebody please help me here. the mystery setlist/crowd requests is always the same songs: say it aint so, in bloom and that garbage song. coincidentally the first 3 songs in the game. my friend and i played this otherwise amazing game until 5 in the morning and in doing so we played these songs at least 10 times each. even stopped playing the mystery sets if we didn't have to but we did have to unlock other parts of the game. i must say if i had to play them again i would shove the drum stick through my eye and out the back of my head.
so my question is why is it doing that? is there something i need to unlock? a setting needs to be changed? a patch downloaded? what's the deal people? thanks for everyone's time.. :)

the more songs you unlock teh more varied the mystery set list gets. I was getting mostly metallica songs(DLC) in mine.

It seems that the list of unlocked songs may be tied to your band leader. Has the leader of your band gone through the Solo Tour and unlocked the songs? I would think that unlocking them in BWT mode would work as well, though. But just in case, you might try to take the time to drag him through that and open them all up.
I know last night we played BWT with a new guitarist as the leader and we probably did Say It Ain't So a dozen times. After a bit it was kindof funny, and every time it would come up we would complain about how lame our fans are that this is what they always want to hear. Hell, we flew to Stockholm thinking we could get away from it and they asked for it there!
But on the other hand, I know we got some songs in the Mystery list that we had never played before. One I remember was Orange Crush - so I don't know how that would have come up if we hadn't unlocked it first.
I guess it's a mystery. :)

Odd, I have seen some repeats but for the most part my Mystery Setlist gigs have been pretty random. It does like to throw the Metallica pack in there a lot, though.

it's a serious clamp on the games likability if this is how they designed it. i know there is 45 songs plus the bonus ones. and i would love to play them. but i'm genuinely afraid to go back and play anymore because i dont' want to hear those songs again. i used to love them but now i hate them. except garbage i always hated that one.

Unlock songs solo, that should help.

It definately helps to have the band leader do the single player campaign before starting BWT... otherwise it's randomly choosing from a small pool of unlocked songs.

listen everybody i appreciate the thoughts. but unless it was picking through a group of 3 songs, there is no way this is even remotely random. EVERY SINGLE TIME we do a mystery sets or crowd requests it plays the first 3 or 4 songs in the game. there has to be a way to fix it besides unlocking more songs, because we have unlocked all the way down to the highway star song from deep purple. there is probably over 20 songs in the pool to choose from. so does anyone have suggestions other than the previously discussed? maybe something from the mods who have all the answers?

Apples is a mod. He said that the BL should go through Solo.

Hey, being forum mod doesn't endow me with magical powers and knowldge here. ;) I'm just saying it worked for me, so it would be a viable option.
Sounds wierd that you could be so far into the game and have this problem.

We are looking into this now. For now I would say that if you've played a mystery setlist and then want to play another reset the machine first. Some people were saying earlier that that seemed to help a bit.

This won't help with the annoyance of playing the same songs over and over again but if you think about it, a real band with a catalog of hits probably goes through the same thing. I once heard Joe Walsh say this about his "Rocky Mountain Way" song, "If I knew I was gonna have to play this song for 50 years, I'd have written a better song." The really good bands can play their tired old repetitive songs and make them sound fresh and new for their audiences.
That, being said, I think if you'll have your band leader play through the solo tour, you can unlock a lot more songs for your group.

Yeah I can confirm my band did two 2 song mystery setlists back to back and they were both In Bloom and Creep. We've played lots of Creep due to mystery setlists and requested song setlists (which I guess we could probably have seen the set-list for before hand).

I remember when I was in a band, and we basically had about 6 songs we could play live. In practice we'd play one until we got sick of it, then move to the next.
Ah, those were the days, trying to get 5 people to switch from 4/4 to 6/8, back to 4/4, to 6/8 again, once more to 4/4, then the outro in 6/8. Must have spent 3 hours straight playing 20 measures...

Yet another flaw in an otherwise great game.
Wifey and I tried to break in the game on world tour multiplayer mode, and yeah after playing Here it goes again for the 12 time we started called it "This song blows again."
Patch the game so you can unlock songs in world tour mode? Please?
and fix the game so band members can switch instruments between gigs. PLEASE fix these glaring annoyances.

Thanks for the response, its good to know that some of our feedback is being heard. I figured this was simply part of the game design, because those songs were supposed to be our "fan favorites" or something. We played "Say it aint so" and "Creep" about 20 times last night, seriously every mistery setlist started with those 2 songs. We tried to abondon them (and ended up losing fans), but when we went back in it was still the same. By design or not, it would be nice if it was mixed up more simply because we aren't a real band and are playing this game for entertainment purposes.
Any word on the Guitar Hero guitar issues for PS3?
Thanks,
-Matt
