I have read that it works, but I can't get it going. I know I plug the headset into the guitar or the drums, then what? What EXACTLY do you press on the menues as far as selecting characters and instruments and stuff?

I don't think you can because each player has to have a controller assigned to them...I guess you could plug the headset into a regular controller and sing through that, but it would be awkward. I was playing guitar and singing last night but I was using the microphone that comes with the game. Get a mic stand (under $20), problem solved.

Yeah, I think a mic stand will solve everything... even if you just make one and duct tape the mic to it.

Here's how I plan to do it.
Start the game with your guitar and mike plugged in and ready. Use a USB headset so you don't have to hold a mike up; the one that comes with Karaoke Revolution will work, for instance.
Turn on a controller. This will represent the controls for the "mike player".
Start a multiplayer match, and use A on the controller and Green Fret on the guitar to join it as the singer and guitarist respectively.
Go to town! You are now two people at once. :D

I might get made fun of for asking, but where is the headset port on the strat?

HA HA!
I actually don't know either, never looked. A lot of stuff got overlooked last night in my haste to unbox and play. :D

That's... a good question, actually, because I have no idea. I was doing an online match last night, and it was a buncha dudes standing around silently waiting to go because nobody could figure out how to do voice chat.
Presumably it's got something to do with the little headset adapter thingies. Those aren't just for turning an XBL mike into a vocalist's mike or we wouldn't have gotten 2-3 of them in the box...

Theres a tiny hole on the guitar by where the strap gets connected on the right side (back of guitar). theres also one on the drum kit in front where the control buttons are.
i have a dumb question - the headset that came w/my xbox is designed to plug into the controller, as theres extra plugs and it doesnt fit into the lone hole in the guitar, whats the deal?

That's one I can answer ;)
There should be two adapters in the box that give you a wire coming off of that connector. You can then plug this free wire into the drums/guitar.

You can use the headset as a mic. I like to play vocals and guitar at the same time, I only hook up the guitar and use one regular 360 controller with the headset connected.
Goto multiplayer and press A to start your "band members" one will be a guitarist and the other vocals when the song starts you'll be doing both. :)
