Has anyone tried different drum sticks from the ones supplied? I wouldn't mind if mine were a bit more quiet when I played. I was thinking about trying something different.

I play with my regular sticks... nicer than the ones that came with the box, and a little heavier with lacquer.

A bunch of us here use felt tip drumsticks. We had a large sheet of felt laying around (don't ask) that we didn't need any more so we cut it up and put them on the drumsticks. It works well.

Did you glue the felt on? I also have some felt.
Do they make something like this? I was going to stop by a music shop, but I have no idea what I'm lookign for.

Really, what I'm worried about with the drumsticks is me or one of my friends going to town on the set (which I try to keep everyone from doing - it'll bust, eventually, if that keeps up), and one of the sticks flying out of their hands and going straight through my T.V.

Kind of like when my friend hit a glass of wine during a Wii Bowling session, and the wine flew across the room and landed all over the Wii and the T.V. It was funny afterwards...but only because nothing was broken. Heh.

Sluggo from Gamespy suggested a certain brand of sticks due to the shock absorbtion / ease of use on the hands.

I own a pair and prefer them to the "stock" sticks.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot. Near the plumbing supplies you'll find rubber tubing (looks kind of like the medical tubing you see in movies etc...made of latex). It's not cheap (about $15 for more than you will ever need) but cheaper than practice drum sticks. Cut a short length off (enough for the tip of the stick) and slide it on. Repeat as needed as it wears down...
