With the languages threads recently, I though I'd start a thread about accents.
Wich one do you prefer?
Wich one is funny or ugly ^^
Or do you have an accent when you speak other languages :)

I'm from Indiana, "The Land of No Accents". But I absolutely can't stand the Kentucky accent and am learning to despise the Southern Belle accent the longer I live in Alabama.

The New Bedford accent!
Very similar to the Boston accent, but without the hint Irish and added Portuguese flavor.

I was born and still live in the South and, having avoided an accent, I absolutely hate the way that nearly everyone around me speaks. I do, however, enjoy throwing on a fake British accent all too often.

Irish accents and Scottish make me weak in the knees.
Can't think of the one that gets on my nerves at the moment but I know there is one that does.

I come from Indiana, which is really boring when it comes to accents. I'm just glad I don't have a southern accent. I'm not one for southern accents. (nothing against you if you have one, of course)
I don't like strong Cockney accents much either. I'm pretty much OK with just about anything else though.

I like when people think everyone with a southern accent is stupid, because my friend has a thick southern accent, and he is probably the most well spoken and intelligent person you will ever meet.

^I agree 100% that accents have nothing to do with intelligence.
To answer the OP, I have a British accent when speaking French (no lie), according to one of my native-French-speaking friends.

I'd love me one of those gals with a hawt south jersey accent. The ones that could bench me while eating three pizzas and drinking eggs.
In all seriousness, I'd probably have to go for a british accent, or possibly australian. I've heard it all from North America way too much, and I'll be damned if anyone tells me that I have a thick Canadian accent.

Well, where I live (northern NY), we speak some mix of a Boston and Canadien accent, which i've managed to avoid cathcing so far. Otherwise, we speak pretty normally.

I don't think I have an accent, coming from Southern Ontario. I guess I have a Southern Ontario accent, but I definitely don't sound like "a Canadian".
I can do accents of varying ability ranging from Chinese to Pakistani, British to German.
I enjoy most Western European accents, for various reasons. I can tolerate all other accents, and I don't mind talking to people who have strong accents.. I try my best to understand, and go on with the conversation.
(Contrary to what the media might have you believe, Arabic actually sounds really pretty, 'specially coming from girls with naturally sweet voices. Ask Russell Peters. Or one L? I don't know.)
EDIT: And Turkish. Can't forget that. Those regions have some pretty languages.. Even if I don't particularly like some of the accents, what they're used to sounds much nicer, even if I have no idea what they're saying. ;)

I'm from Maryland, and I can't really tell, but I think I may have a really light Southern accent, but only when I speak informally. When I'm reading out loud, I sometimes drift into a light British accent unconsiously. Pretty weird, huh? I'm used to Spanish accents because of my background, though. As for accents I dig, well, my weakness is for guys with natural British or Australian accents. :)

I've got a light aussie accent. A lot of other Aussies tell me I sound like I'm from the US (probably somewhere west coast) but I've never been overseas. So yeah, Australian accent for me, although I rarely say 'mate' and never say 'struth' etc.

I suppose I have a Jersey accent...I live in northern Jersey though, so it's more along the lines of a New Yawk accent really.
I have nothing against Southerners, but southern accents make me want to puncture my eardrums with pens. It takes so long for them to talk...get to the point already!
English/Irish/Scottish are my favorite accents though.
I could get into the whole accent/dialect debate, but I digress...no one pays attention to this anymore anyway.

I know some girls who can pull off the southern accent very well, but for the most part I can't stand it. Canadian Accents entertain me though, and some days I can pull off a pretty good British accent, so that's fun when Telemarketers are involved.

I have what I'm told is a fairly typical Australian accent. Not the "throw another shrimp on the barbie"/g'day mate!/Paul Hogan stereotypical accent, but the one which most Australian people speak with.
It's funny, though, that I find that very broad Australian accent to be perhaps the most grating sound in the world. I just cringe when I hear it. Thankfully it's (apparently) becoming increasingly rare, but strangely I think some people are beginning to put it on to sound more 'Aussie' (people with naturally broad Australian I don't find as anywhere near as grating as those who put on this ridiculous faux accent).
Call it stereotypical if you must, but I love a French accent. A 'posh' sounding British accent is another one I love. I need to find a girl who can do those two accents and I will be in love at first sight!

I speak English and French, I have no discernible accent. I do like to imitate french speaking hockey players or my relatives when they try to speak english. I can pass as a local, even though I use to be a local.
I love hearing a someone with a southern accent speak German, French or Spanish...classic stuff.

heh... i like to sometimes give complex and complicated answers while using a very heavy southern accent. it confuses people and the look on their face is great!

Ah yeah, I always get your messages at like 3-4am when my family is sleep and I'm watching DVD's or something, damn time zones! I also hate writing messages because I don't have a keyboard for my PS3 yet, sorry bout that.

Hey now, it's only the Eastern part of KY that really has the accent. Come to Central KY (well...mainly the Bowling Green/Louisville areas), and you won't find a very big accent at all.
Myself though, I wish I had an Irish accent (Irish heritage here)...I think it'd be boss.

Same. I've always thought that someday I'll move to Ireland for a year or two to try to pick up the accent. My last name is really Irish, so something about a southern accent is just completely wrong...

I have been told that I have an accent when I was talking to an American a few years back. I can't imagine that I do though.
My Fiancee has said that I seem to have a slight westerner accent, but she says it's not strong.
I do remember having a distinct Southern U.S. accent when coming back from a couple week vacation down there years ago

Nah, nothing like a good and strong Scottish or Brit accent on a woman. That would make my heart melt.
I'm also impartial to Asian accents too.

I have a very bad habit where I try to talk like the person I am talking to. I was called out on it in the UK a few years ago. It is not that I try to mock but I like to be a chameleon.

I've developed a Chinese, West Indian, and Middle Eastern accent as result of my chameleon abilities.
