I'm probably going to be buying a PS3 next month... but I have no interest in backwards capability at all, the only PS2 games i play are Gh1, GH2 and Rockband. Should I just sell off my system and the instruments and buy all new?

I will say i am completely honest in saying I have looked at none of the reviews of the RB2 instruments, so those that use them, are they better than the RB1?

Yeah , might as well sell it off if you're not going to use them. Not like you can play those on the PS3 anymore , or that you would need to since you'll probably be getting the newer versions.

The Rock band 2 guitar is awesome. Much better than the last.

I liked the drums as well from when I played on them. (I still use the RB1 drums for now - prob get ION soon) However i have 2 friends that got them. One works great , and one of them double hits his notes a lot.

The PS2 instruments work for RB1 on the PS3, they do not work for RB2 on the ps3?

My bad , I meant the games and the system. Instruments should work fine on PS3 , and would probably be the better/cheaper route for you to just keep them since you won't get much $ out of the instruments , unless you can sell it to an individual with the game as a package.

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out.. I mean i can sell my system with RB1+GH1+GH2 with all the instruments, and an extra GH1 guitar... or, i can just buy the disk and use my old instruments when i switch to the ps3. Mainly I'm just trying to find out if the switch to the RB2 instruments is worth it.

I know this is not helping you... But you're lucky... You're buying the PS3 when it's 399$ for the 80GB version. I had to pay 399$ for the 40GB version. :(

Hey Daesania, when exactly are you planning to buy your PS3? cus Sony is releasing another bundle PS3 in November. It has a 160GB HDD, comes with Uncharted Drake's Fortune (Awsome game), Dual shock 3 controller and a PSN coupon for the game "PAIN". Price? 499.00

That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.

You have no idea how fast you can run out of space when you are aquiring DLC.

When I got my 60GB PS3, I was like 60GB?!?! I'm never gona fill that up!! Then a little game called RB came along, and oooh! how quickly that changed, plus a have downloaded a few games from the PSN an also Singstar DLC. Right now I'm down to 20GB, and that's not going to last long.:(

You also must take into consideration that some games like MGS4 or GTA4 when you install them, then can take as much as 5GB of HDD space. Of course it's up to you, I'm just sharing my personal experience.

Btw mid november actually I believe is when the 160GB bundle is coming out.

I agree. Especially for the auto calibration and the fact that you can plug in a kick pedal and use it to activate overdrive.

There're nicer , but it's not a necessity. I'd just keep the instruments you have and worry about getting the system (and anything else you'll want for it.) No point in spending more money on new instruments all at once. Once you get all set up with your PS3 , just phase in the new instruments one at a time. Much easier on the wallet.

Yeah, keep your instruments since they will work fine on the PS3. I doubt you'd get much for them anyway.

Sell your PS2 and games. Hopefully that will be enough to knock $100+ off the price of the PS3.

Are you partial to ps3? why not go for the 120 gig 360? If you want the blue ray player than i can understand, but if you want a "Game" system ( I am not trying to flame any consoles here this is just my opinion, so dont get all huffy guys and try and say that this is a console thing! ) There are horror stories about both systems, but it is reallly hard to knock on Live.

Just my 2 cents. I have had my 360 for 2 years no issues, and i upgraded to the 120 gig HD. Plenty of storage, and fantstic games.

Agreed on the "Worth it" part, but how can you say you paid for it 2 1/2 years ago, it's barely going to be 2 years in November since the PS3 released.

Well....maybe it is possible if you preorder and paid in full six months prior to release.

Same here. I just had to have it then , and I've hardly even used it aside from watching movies

If you haven't played MGS4, do your self a favor and go out and get it. It be a real shame if you missed out on that experience, if ever there was a game worth playing on the PS3 it's that one.

I honestly dont care for one system over the other, but I think I am going with the PS3 for several reasons:

Price of xbox and ps3 will be the same because PS3 has wireless. The part of my house is unable to have a wire up here, so I HAVE to use wireless. SO.. facter in the cost of the wireless adapter (100) and the LIVE... they come to about equal.

With the 360, I will have to buy all new instruments unlike with my PS3 where if I want to, i can just use my old hardware. I kinda like the idea of phasing the new ones in.

Lastly, I probably wont get much for my PS2 system - The only games I own are GH1/Gh2/Rock band, and the old fat system --which i might add, i got at a garage sale for 10 dollars and it is in perfect working order. lol.

Edit: i also should add, i really dont care about what the gig size is of these consoles... I'm using them purely for gaming... not storing crap on.

I'd say sell off the PS2 and maybe the games and keep the instruments. I did something similar with my original Xbox and I don't have very many regrets. Plus you get Blu-Ray with your PS3. That's not bad at all.

You're going to want to keep it so you can play GH2 once in a while...

Least, I do. Just got 300K on Sweet Child o Mine the other day, 4 notes from an FC
