Link your favourite video game music that would be entertaining to play instead of just hear in the background as you kill demons or level up.

Obviously due to certain songs having limits on vocals, we wont see as wide a variety of video game music, but one can always dream

1. Tristram Theme - Diablo 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGTUz4OnzdM

Pro's - Awesome Guitar Play, though can get a little boring and repetitive at times.
Con's - No vocals at all, I don't think I heard any drums either.

1b. Deckard Cain Rap (Possible Solution to #1)

Just merge the above song with the following. It would be amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMAbNFptzAA

Pro's - Funky Guitar Play, Hilarious Vocals and a solid drum line
Con's - Maybe a bit too cartoony for anyone to take seriously.

2. Metal Gear Solid Theme - Punk Remix

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=010ahXuvnnw

Pro's - Awesome Guitar bits (definite multiple solos), solid bass and drum lines

Con's - Again, vocalists are sitting on the tambourine.

3. Duke Nukem Theme Song - Megadeth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUCbflBkIgo&feature=related

Pro's - At least the vocalist has a few lines this time!

Con's - With the recent exposure of the Megadeth CD, many are probably tired of the band's insane melodies.

4. Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne Ending Music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyn2bHtraY0

Pro's: Just plain great song on everything!

Con's - Very, very, very, very nerdy.

I know I've missed plenty, list your favourite!

I hear ya. But the rights would be hard as hell to get get. GH# already nailed the Halo 3 theme. But here are a couple i wouldn't mind:

Maximum Carnage:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbnihYENjC8

Pros: Have you played this game? this song (by Green Jelly!) was awesome.]
Cons: No Vocals

The Theme of Laura (Silent Hill 2):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDfp0DhtbQg

Pros; Awesome song. Youtubers all over do the guitar. The drums are good, too.
Cons: Vocals

Otherworld (FFX):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-l6F0i6Yjs

Pros: Dude...Vocals? Guitar & Bass? DRUMS?!? This is the "Visions" of Video Game Songs.
Cons: Besides difficulty? None.

I think that's all. I mean, One Winged Angel would be cool too, but I'll take Otherworld and Laura's theme over it.

OMG! I don't know how I could have forgotten about Otherworld from FFX, it was such a cool song that fit the ingame CGI.

Songs not having vocals is OK now, since YYZ is on RockBand now... so I suggest:
Red Alert II - Hell March 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WqwFhX6Cqg
That's my favorite of the three Hell Marches... of course, with Red Alert III being released next month, Hell March 3 might work as a free promotional song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qvGqrgHRYE
Pros: Extremely awesome. Plus, the C&C franchise is now owned by EA, so licensing shouldn't be too difficult to obtain (and easy promotion for RA3).
Cons: No vocals, but if it's OK for YYZ, then it's fine for other songs as well.

This would be great! There are no vocals unless they count Banjo and Kazooie at the begining

If they got versions from stuff by the NESkimos, Minibosses, or MegaDriver (bands that do video game music)...THAT would be epic.

**** yes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpU5640iE5k
Pros: Slick on all instruments. Would be one of the most classic progressive feeling songs we'd have in Rock Band to date (sad but rue).
Cons: No Vocals, repetitive drums.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVEyGntyOZQ
Pros: Bass that slaps. A decent breakdown for guitar and bass.
Cons: No vocals

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1fqEW3taD4
Pros: One of the best Sonic 3 themes now with crunchy slap bass, slick tight guitars and a variety of different drumming styles.
Cons: NONE, 'cept for the pesky no vocals.

This thread has a disturbing lack of Contra.

Some choice picks from Contra: Shattered Soldier

And for something a little more easy-going, 'Late Goodbye' by Poets Of The Fall (from Max Payne 2)

I find the lack of music from the Guilty Gear games disturbing. It's a fighting game based off of rock and metal, so the music is made of win by default. Some tracks do have vocals, but they are in japanese so it would be best to stick with the no vocals versions.
From Guilty Gear XX/X2, I'd pick "Still in the Dark," "Blue Water, Blue Sky," "Awe of She," "Fuuga," "Existence," "The Midnight Carnival," and "Meet Again."

Also, thank you to whoever posted that Dynatasy Warriors 4 music. You picked some great tracks, but "Eve" is missing. I thought that song kicked ass; perfect music for killing hundreds of nameless Chinese soldiers.

Crush 40, the band who did songs for the newer Sonic the Hedgehog games, have some good tunes. I could see a three-pack coming from them featuring "Open Your Heart" from Sonic Adventure, "Live n' Learn," from Sonic Adventure 2, and "What I'm Made Of," from Sonic Heroes. These tracks do have vocals, so the singers don't have to sit around and be bored.
