So I get ready to play and it says I need a software update. Can anyone provide me with a link to the update I need?

just go ahead and hit the continue button. the update is on the disc.

if you're on xbox live just click accept and install the update...it does it automatically

It should say something like there is an update patch available for this game do you want to proceed? If you say yes (actually, I think it's "ok" but I'm not sure) it should auto patch over your internet connection and restart the game. You should be good to go from there.
