Hi there guys.
I am importing Rock Band for the Xbox 360 and therefore i need a USB Hud to power my stuff. Since i havent got a USB Hub with its own power supply, i am thinking about using the one found with Rock Band. Since the plug for the cord that comes with Rock Band is different from what we are using then i will need some specs of it.
How many volts does it use? Is it using a stepdown converter? What type of cord goes from the powerplug, to the Hub itself?
If somebody could kindly post some images of the USB Hub itself, it could be very nice.

The BEST option you have man is actually going to walmart / Tigerdirect or something similar to that where you are at and getting a USB hub that draws power from the unit it's plugged into. My wife has one I got for her computer, 4 port, that just plugs into a USB piece and that's it. That way you don't have to deal with converting the voltage.

just get a US powerplug-converter. you plug the supplied USBhub's powercord into the converter, converter goes into the powerloutlet in the wall.

Can someone take some pictures of the charger itself? Also the specs on the USB hub itself.
Biggest reason is that i got some multipurpose chargers around and most USB hubs tend to use plugs it can do.

Don't have a camera handy, but the prong is about a millimeter thick, round, about the side of a headphone plug.
It's (- to +) Input 100-240v ~ 50/60hz .5 A
output +5V - 2A
Still think your best bet is to get a self powered USB hub personally. It only got me 10 buck for my wifes, and you won't have to deal with this.

Cut the tip off the end of the headphone plug, and make it hollow to insert a prong into a yes. That size. The power adapter end is a standard american 2 prong plug.

I use a generic universal adapter like this and can confirm that it works. It's nice to have that extra cord to work with.

yea...or he doesn't HAVE the game.....lol....this one they chose power from outside source...no idea why, because the one taking power from the 360 would have been WAY more efficient.
Game : It's the one that is separate from 4 prong in your multi adapter....(not the 9 volt plug obviously ;)) It's the other one that's hanging off it. That should be the right adapter.

USB can only provide so much power from a single port. I'm guessing that, say, two wired guitars + mic + drum kit on one port is pushing it. One of my guitars is the wireless GH3 one, and I don't have any other wired things to plug in, so I haven't used the hub at all yet.
If you're only going to plug one or two wired peripherals into the hub you probably don't need to use the AC adapter for the hub at all.

or MS could've just designed the 360 better and had 4 ports right from release.
like OG xbox had......makes sense to me.

Went around pretty much every shop that carries electronic stuff and nobody had a external powered hub, big dissapointment! Seems like the power converter will be my saint for now...

It's important to note that this is not the best option. This is an "unpowered" USB hub, can only support 500mA total and (at least by specification) no single device is allowed to pull more than 100mA. These unpowered USB hubs are an exception to the USB specification and are allowed exclusively for portable devices (like a laptop) that only need low power devices.
Not only is it a poor solution for your XBox, but even if all of the controllers are low power devices, it is forbidden by the XBox 360 specification.
While using an unpowered USB hub will probably not damage anything, it's just not the best way to do it. I would guess that the best way would be to just buy a new powered USB hub locally, but of course your current plan will work.
