What happened to 5 Gold Stars for 100%?

So I've gotten several 100% on different instuments but was never awarded 5 gold stars, just 5 regular stars EXCEPT for when I 100%'d on eof the downloaded Police songs. WHat gives?

You want an official answer? I have one. One of the reasons Harmonix brought us out to their studio was to show us how the scoring system works for Rock Band.

The Gold Stars are indeed a 6* rating, but not in the normal 6* that we use in our linear extended systems for the Guitar Hero series. It's probably closer to a 7.5-8* in terms of score.

I don't think anyone has figured out what the gold stars are exactly. We've all seen them in videos, but the only thing we (I) know is that they aren't for 100% a song.

Plus, the whole FC/High Score thing isn't really the focus of Rock Band. I know it's a mentality that's hard to break.

If you don't understand how 6-7-8 star work it's basically the next level after 5 Star and Star Ratings are based on score. So Gold Stars are now a result of a high score not 100%. It will require optimizing the use of Overdrive. Understand now?

gotcha.....very familiar w/GH system, this one sounds a more a TRUE definition of perfect.
