It all started while my brother and me were playing Rock Band. In the middle of a song the internet disconnected, thus disconnecting us from XBOX Live. Now at this time we didn't have internet access in our house.
So the next time we started Rock Band up, the game froze/locked-up as soon as it was started (it was the ONLY game that did so). I called Harmonix and they suggested I return my copy for another... I did. The problem consisted, so I called Microsoft... they offered no solution other then paying $100 for another XBOX. I refused! On a hunch I took my xbox 360 to a friends house a week or 2 later. I connected the 360 to the internet and tada, the game launched no problem. So I waited for the game to go to main menu and turned the 360 off, then disconnected the internet. Now the game launches without the internet.
Not to be mean, but you'd think that Microsoft or Harmonix have some kind of troubleshooting manual (or people smart enough to give educated guesses). In the end the solution to my problem was simple, connect it back to the internet and shut it off properly.
