I just wanted to add a post here saying that my downstrum just stopped working after less than 3 hours of playing. Note that I was not slamming on my guitar or anything. I barely started playing Hard difficulty before this happened.

I had this exact problem when I had been playing it for only a few hours. Actually, what happened was my brother and his friend were playing when I was asleep so I thought they had done something to it. The downstrum wasn't working at all. However, I went and played around with the wires for awhile and reconnected everything slowly and it started working again. For the guitar itself I disconnected it from the middle, not from the USB. I don't know if that makes a difference. The version I have has an Oct 12 sticker on it and I did get the patch from xbox live. So yeah, a lot of people have been calling it a hardware issue but seeing as it is working as its supposed to again I don't feel that it is. The problem may have to do with the 360 trying to handle the input signals from the 4 different peripherals. It is weird that the upstrum still worked though but meh. I didn't make the game, but at least its working again. :p

My guitar strum bar also stopped working about 3 hours into playing. I took it apart and found that there are two extensions on the strum bar that push contacts together, one on each side and they looked worn down! Cheap material??? Anyway I used some scotch tape, folded very thin and placed it behind the stationary contact points to lessen the distance the moveable contacts had to travel, played the endless 58 song set for 8+ hours without a single problem. *Warning* this negates the possibility for waranty exchange!
