360 Setup question is the usb hub required?

Hmmm... Just wondering, I got the xbox 360 pack last night, but there are absolutely zero instructions about the USB hub. I assume it is included because the xbox only has 3 USB ports whereas Rock Band can utilize 4 instruments simultaneously. But, does that mean it's required that we use the hub to connect our instruments, or if I only have the 3 pack-in instruments I could just use the USB ports on the Xbox 360? The instruments don't need extra power supplied by the powered USB hub or do they?

Yes, I did a search on the forums, but "usb" and "hub" are only 3 letters long and the search function here doesn't allow for search queries under 4 letters long. I didn't have any luck at the EA Rock Band tech support site either... So if you KNOW the answer, please fill me in! Thank you in advance! :)

The microphone requires a controller to be connected, so you can have 2 other items connected with the mic, if you have a wireless remote.

If you have a wired remote, you can only have one other item connected.

My usb hub is broke, so I could only rock with my wife, or my son, not the whole fam...it sux.

EA is sending me a new usb hub though, so lets hope its a good one.

I have hooked up the instruments both through the hub AND by just plugging into the 360, so you don't need to go through the hub.

Well, if you have a wireless controller, then yes, you should be able to.

USB Ports
1. Mic
2. Fender
3. Drums

and then wireless controller, wireless guitar.
