View Full Version : Corrupted save file

On my PS3 today, the game locked up during a save. After powering down and rebooting the PS3, my RockBand save file was marked "corrupted data". Very nice, considering I was about 90% of the way through the game on solo drums.
I normally make regular back-ups of saved game data from the HDD to an SD card, in case of an HDD crash. I just tried this on a new, uncorrupted RockBand saved data file, and for the first time in any game I've seen on the PS3, I received an error message that copying of saved data info was not allowed for this game.
So, not only does there seem top be a lock-up bug causing your saved data file to become corrupted, but as an added bonus the PS3 won't even allow making a back-up copy of it to an SD card.
Just what's so important in these saved data files that I'm not allowed to make a back-up, nuclear weapon plans perhaps?
Please, give all of us a break, and add the ability to copy saved data to memory cards in the next patch.

Is anyone able to make a copy to their saved game file to a memory card on a PS3? I'm begining to wonder if it's just me. If anyone would be willing to take a minute, try it and report back here, I'd appreciate it.

There's a game for the Wii (Elebits) which prevents you from backing up your saved game to SD card as well. I don't understand what the big deal is, why anyone would need to block that.

yeah i was pretty bummed about this too. i spent maybe an hour or two trying to unlock songs by playing medium guitar. i only got through maybe 25-30 and it was time to head over to a friends place. so i figured id save my progress to a jump drive and we could work on unlocking the rest. then i found out you cant copy the game save. so we started from scratch at his place. waste of time for me.

There are some games on Xbox 360 that won't allow you to move them to a different location, but Rock Band doesn't appear to be one of them - It allows me to move my game save from the memory card to the HDD (and vice-versa), without a problem.
Strange that the behavior would be different between the two consoles (?)

Thanks for the confirmations guys, I appreciate your time.
Looks like yet another case of PS3 RB users being screwed.

You can't even copy it from one account to the other!? What the hell gives?
Its my guess that they might save downloaded content in there and when copied to another system without the songs it either crashes or gives them the song. But I don't even believe what I just wrote.
Honestly I'm pretty pissed off at Harmonix for screwing up the PS3 side of things with the controllers and the little functionality things such as this. The game works fine for me otherwise, but c'mon, what the hell.

I sure hope not, otherwise I'm out my Metallica pack as well (haven't checked yet). I'd assume DLC is stored elsewhere on the HDD though, not in the saved data file.
