I also failed it, despite the fact I thought I was nailing, Maybe I wasn't being loud enough idk.

I had that problem too, try dropping it down an octave. Same pitch, but lower. That's what I do.

Or I get really high and sound like a freak and my friends make fun of me.

for those who have played karaoke revolution it uses the same vocal recognition it seems and you can sing those songs in a lower octave as long as it's the right key.

if you just have trouble with carrying a tune try practice mode and just play with your voice to find the right tune, hope it helps.

Is the problem that your singing isn't being registered or is it that you're not hitting the notes?

If the former, then maybe try turning up the microphone sensitivity.

If the latter, then it's probably just going to be a case of practice. See if it's a specific bit particular to that song. Maybe try another song that's somewhat similar and see if it gives you trouble too. Could be some skill that needs work.

Depending on how much effort you want to put into it, you might also want to either have a friend (an honest one) listen to you sing and help you determine where you're going wrong, or record yourself singing it for self-analysis. Remember that how you sound to you and how you sound to everyone else might not always be the same.

While we have Rock Band, we're not actually playing it until Christmas. I did give all the peripherals a fairly rigorous test yesterday though, and from my (limited) experience, the microphone and scoring system were fairly generous. It could just be one little thing, and once you pin it down, you'll find everything goes quite smoothly.

Just change your octave. better yet, sing really low and it'll recognize that as teh right note. Then when you need to get high, you don't have to try at all.

Pracitce? No offense but the average singer is going to be able to hit those notes no problem (Rivers Cuomo is not much a singer in his own-right).

Or I guess bring it down to easy...

Can someone not make me tone deaf??? You know, just fix it. :-) I possibly might be the worst singer in the whole of Rock Band-verse. :o

yea, stop making excuses and try. VERY few people were born great at anything. Do you think Jimi Hendrix was out of the womb playing solos? he played for hours every day.

If you spend some time, you will be able to sing fine. You probably won't be winning any awards but you will identify pitch.

I am tone deaf and I do try ... I am practicing, hoping to be passable at the game...I was just having a fun.

You could try turning the master track volume up a bit, that might help you match the notes from the song.

If you're actually tone deaf, why did you buy this game? You won't be able to hear most of the music.

If by "tone deaf" you mean that you can't reproduce tones, that's not tone deaf and it's a skill. Just practice.
