I've been trying to see if anyone else is having the issue, but didn't find many threads...
For some reason, my strat doesn't always work when you tilt it up to go overdrive...It's more of an annoyance than anything as I just push the back button, but it screws me up looking away from the screen :)
Wasn't sure if anyone else had this issue, it seems to be only certain songs - some songs it works perfectly, some it works if it feels like it (I actually flipped it over and upside down while still playing amazingly lol) and some songs it doesn't work at all.
This is leading me to believe its more of a software issue, it seemed ok until that patch came out. Any ideas anyone?

I had the same problem and did some tests. For me I found if I keep the Body of the controler straight up and down, when I tilt the handel it works every time. When I have the body leaning back towards me it doesn't turn on overdirve. Don't know if it will help but seems to work for me.

Yeah, I am having the same issue with activating Overdrive with the Strat. :( I had to switch back to the GH3 controller because I can never get Overdrive to work.

sometimes it's too sensitive with the activation, other times it freezes and wont activate at all, until i STOP tilting, and then it activates. /boggle. The guitar really seems to have some serious design flaws.
For the record, I play-tested Rock Band @ harmonix studios in Cambridge, and the quality of the strat was NOT this poor. I think that the production quality of the mass-produced guitars was low quality, to say the least, and a lot of shortcuts were taken to make up for the amount of hardware they had to package- ie, to make money instead of lose it off the game. Hopefully, theyll learn there lesson with all the broken guitars being replaced and put out a more solid RB guitar.

Update:
I was experimenting with this...I took the GH2 Xplorer controller and plugged it into rock band...This is definitely a software issue...The Xplorer is experiencing the same issue as the strat, where when you tilt overdrive doesn't work all the time...So I loaded up GH2 and GH3 to make sure my xplorer isn't taking a dump, nope, it worked perfectly. How do we escalate this to Harmonix so they push out another update??

Same problem.
My brother and I both play and I use the GHII Xplorer and he uses the Strat. Mine works fine, but he cannot activate overdrive and both of us get pretty frustrated with it.
I planned on waiting until post-Thanksgiving to take care of it.

I have this same issue. I called EA tech support on Sunday and took the option to not give them my credit card. They said with the optin I took, I would recieved a pre-paird shipping sticker, and a box to ship my guitar back wo them with. When they revieve my broken guitar, they will apparently send me a new one.
They didn't even ask for warrenty info or anything, wicth I found some what odd. But if they hold up to what they said, then they get a+ service rating from me. I go through to tech support in less then 4 mins and she took my name and address and said it would be 3 to 5 bussiness days when I got the shipping lable and box. I'll keep everyone posted when I get everything taken care of...

Another one who had the same issue I had! The solution I have used is that I make sure the guitar neck is always pointing to my left at a 90 degree angle. (Or Right if you are a lefty) Then my overdrive works as normal.
Normally I was sitting in my chair playing the game, and the guitar would pretty much sit at a 45 degree angle, randomly kicking in the overdrive mode on it's own and not working when i wanted or needed it to. Figuring that the balance inside wasnt right i kept it to my side completely and have been fine since.
Still crossing my fingers that i dont get any of the other issues with the hardware I have seen others get.
Hope this helps!

Dude, the point is, you shouldn't have to hold it at a 90 dagree angle. You should be able to use it like its suppose to be used.
