I know everything is hush-hush on this, but I hoped that maybe you could give me some information on how it is going? Hopefully you guys can work out the DLC, and have it work on the Wii...I'm sure there are lots of hoops to go through when there shouldn't be.
But, I don't feel like buying a 360 yet, and I'm hoping the Wii version is only a few months away. Any HMX able to give any new information? If not, that's ok.
Thanks in advance.

If by hush-hush you mean they're not working on it, then you're right. As far as anyone knows, there has been no announcement that they are working on a Wii version.
If/when HMX decides to port Rock Band to the Wii, there will be an announcement made.

I'd like to know about this too.
Between the 360's failure rates and the ps3 still being very much overpriced for what you get (whatever that is), I do wonder why this game wasn't just released straight away on the world's most successful console.

Mostly because by the time they realized the wii was going to be the top console for a while it had already been in development for quite a while. I'm pretty sure there was some news about the Wii & Rock Band on Kotaku a while back, but I don't remember if it was a confirm or deny or what exactly.

You mean the PS2?

You mean the PS2?
The lack of online multiplayer on the PS2 pretty much rules that one out for me as a Rock Band option. No doubt many other potential RB gamers would say the same thing.
It's just strange, the Wii being absent from the list. Despite it having a fully working GH3 already, online multiplayer and all, Rock Band hasn't even been announced for it. And it is, after all, the most successful current-gen console.

That's why the Wii is the best selling console, because it's not real. Okay, sure. Stop being such so whiny because your console isn't the most popular.

I love my Wii a lot more than my 360 and PS2 and my brother's PS3. Thankfully we have the 360 and PS3 to play Rock Band, but I'd definitely like to see a Wii version if possible.
We'll just have to wait patiently and see.

I see it as too much hassle with the controllers
guitar hero only had a guitar...but rock band has em all
so either they would have to make wii compatible instrument "cases" like the GH guitar
or use the USB
the latter being more likely...but then add in the DLC, which they are really hyping
maybe the hoops to jump through for that is just not worth it
I have PS3 and a WII...so i just get what's on one and what's on the other

actually all of the wii instruments would be wireless just like they are for GH3 and every other peripheral (discounting Gamecube controllers of course but some of those are even wireless). Since the Wii can have 4 wireless controllers going at once, this is no problem for RB.
I think the biggest downfall of the Wii though is the lack of mature online component, especially when it comes to DLC that PS3/360 owners are able to get quite easily.
GH3 for the Wii is more popular than all other consoles except maybe PS2 versions yet Wii, which has online components, probably won't ever get any DLC. Very sad.
Nintendo did a killer job with the Wii, but I think they misjudged the popularity of the online component and didn't spend enough time fleshing out something better than what they have (Wii Friends' Codes are a horrible nightmare for the most part...got to have a new one for each game grrrrr)

No argument with all of those points mate.
Wii online could never compare with xbox live, and while it's something that's only gonna drag the console down as time passes, the 360's hardware issues aren't doing it any favours either.
I'd be happier if the 360's games were region free, however. At least then, if I wanted to be able to pay more to have a copy shipped over here to Australia, that'd be an option for me.

The common misunderstanding is that you HAVE to use friend codes to get online and play Wii games. You don't. In fact, I have played Mario Strikers and Battalion Wars 2 without ever entering a friend code. You can connect to a multiplayer game with anyone, and you never have to use a friend code. Friend codes are there just to use to connect with people you know, if you don't like playing with people you don't know. Rock Band would be the same way, or could go the route of EA's MOHH2, using their own server farms on EA Nation.
And, WiiWare solves the DLC issue. That's why I think it is delayed. The game is in development, but they have to work out DLC issues with Nintendo. WiiWare solves this, and allows anything you can get through Live and PSN.
I don't really care if some people think the Wii sucks, or that 360 owns...that's childish stuff that I outgrew about 20 years ago. All of the consoles are great and have advantages and disadvantages. I just would like to play Rock Band on the Wii, and I hope it's in the next 3-4 months. If not, that's fine too.
Thanks.

Some people look for any opportunity they can to bash the Wii. I think it would be foolish of HMX/MTV/EA to overlook what is, currently, the most popular console, and I definitely agree with you that something has to be in the works. If the Wii can't handle the DLC currently, it's not like Nintendo can't patch the system, either online or through a patch loaded when you insert the RB disc the first time.

If the game came out on Wii I would definitely get it on the Wii instead. However, a lack of a real 'next gen' DVD playing apparatus... the PS3 looks like a mighty fine option for me, especially with my 46 inch wide-screen 1080dpi HD-TV. Yeah, it's great.
Anyway, the controller thing is absolutely moot. Wireless is already at the heart of Wii controls. They have enough buttons (5 plus a D-pad) to boot. The only problem would be DLC, which as stated, won't be a problem with WiiWare.

I support Rock Band for Wii.
Don't give me that Wii is "kiddy" and "weak" crap. That's what PC's are for. If I want good graphics and FPS's I'll buy them for my PC.
