Hey, whats up. Im 22 and I live on Long Island I bought this game at a Gamestop the day it came out. Having been a fan of all 3 Guitar Hero's I was excited for Rock Band and couldn't wait to get it home. The guitar parts where pretty easy even on expert but I kind of expected it going in and I don't hold that against the game at all. The only thing that takes away from the guitar portion of the game was how ****ty the guitar that comes packaged with Rock Band was. Ya know, whatever I didn’t care to much I already had 2 guitar's between GH 2 & 3 for the Xbox 360. I have a full time job and wasn’t to upset about the fact that I basically paid for a guitar I'd never use but **** like this happens all the time to early adapters, whatever. I feel sorry for anyone who only has this guitar or for PS3 owners who can’t use their GH3 guitar.
Well the drumming was really fun, really really hard but fun. I couldn’t play it to much the night I brought it home but I couldn’t wait to play it the next day. Well today I got home and the game didn’t recognize the drums. At all. I plugged in directly into the Xbox and still nothing, now I got mad because I knew you couldn’t return it to Gamestop to replace it, due to an orange piece of paper that informs you right after you open the box. So I said F**k it, I paid a lot and I figure I wont use the guitar let me just return it. I didn’t feel like waiting 4-5 for EA to send me a replacement one, I’d just cut my losses.
This is running a little long so I’ll rap it up. You can’t return this to anyone. Gamestop won’t take it back once the box is opened so that means no money back not even store credit. Believe me I tried I talked to an employee and his supervisor and got nowhere after a good 20 minutes (They were however very polite and cool with me on the phone, even though I was yelling and very frustrated). Then I called EA, who’s only solution was to offer to send me replacement drums. Now I don’t even want Rock Band and this whole thing has left a very sour taste in my mouth because now I have a $175 I feel scammed into keeping it.
How can you sell something that you cant return, and tell someone that after buy the game?

As I understand it in most cases (and this may vary with local law), but I'm pretty sure retailers can refused to accept opened software and aren't under any obligation to accept something that's a manufacturer's warranty issue.
Most places will as a courtesy, but afaik it's not a requirement. I have no clue how it's handled in NY, so I could be off base here.

I understand what your saying totally so I say get your parts fixed via the Ea website replacement program and then sell it with the working parts of course.

I yelled at the manager of gamestop for almost half an hour until he finally agreed to replace my broken guitar.
I guess the store's manager who you went to is just trying to be a hard a**.
