View Full Version : ps3 bluetooth chat in-game coming out of speakers...

Normally, when chatting in-game in OTHER games (Fifa, etc) the other person's voice will only be heard through my bluetooth device. In rb2, it seems, it can only come out of the speakers...which is terribly annoying. Is there a setting I'm missing? I have it set so the input and output are the bluetooth device, but it still seems to output the other person's speech through my system's speakers, and not my bluetooth device.
Any suggestions?

Other games do not come with a microphone.
They designed it that way so everyone can chat, not just those with a headset.
Surprised there is not an option to have it the other way though.

ok, I have a question then, I can't get it answered anywhere else, so hopefully you wont mind helping. I have the usb headset, so all I have to do is plug it into my ps3 and I'll be talking to the people. I never know if it's working, I am assuming due to the fact that maybe they don't have a headset, but am I missing something or is it probably working?

No, they didn't "design it that way".
The PS3 has options to select which device you would like to use for voice chat, both input AND output. If you'd like to use the mic that comes with rock band, select it as input and the TV as output.
Why can't I select my headset as both input and output?
It's like they didn't even read the PS3 manual before deciding to code for it.

Obviously they did design it that way or this thread would not exist.

i have had this problem as well..what steps do you take to make sure I am using it properly? I have a blue tooth, so I paired it, when to chat settings and set that to be the device, my light is constant blue (although I have flipped to a blinking blue as well to try that) but I get nothing and it does not seem they can hear me.
how do I know I am set up properly, I have looked through posts and can't find this answered.

You're missing the point here... It's not THEIR design, it's Sony's.
They didn't do anything special to enable the RB mic to be used for voice chat. It's always been an option whenever plugged in, per Sony's design. Just not in Rock Band, because up until now they couldn't be bothered to flip the "enable voice chat" switch on.

Well I don't have the bluetooth one, but I have found out just having my usb one hooked up works, I would guess just play with someone on your friends list and then ask if it's working for them to send you a message, that's what I did and found out it was working
