The Stratocaster is okay, but I prefer the GH controller, but I really love the look of the Stratocaster, plus there's the solo buttons and effects switch on there...
So I'm wondering...how long do you think it will be 'til third parties make Rock Band guitars that have the look and extra features of the Stratocaster, but the strum bar of the GH controller?

I am waiting too.... pretty much everything the strat is now, but with the GH strum bar.
..... and maybe get rid of the damn selector switch which i sometimes hit while i'm strumming.

4-5 months. The 3rd party guys need to reverse-engineer the 5-way switch and solo frets, then design their own guitar, then do QA and manufacture them. I'm very interested to see what the 3rd parties do, especially with the drums.
I expect we'll see some cool hacks before the end of the year, though. Double bass, raised hi-hats, 15-20 fret guitars, stomp boxes all seem likely. I'm debating doing a few of them myself...

It's not hard to "reverse-engineer" it. Just hook it up to a PC and hit each button and see what is actually transmitted. The solo frets work by holding the 9 button (RB on the 360 I think) and the corresponding face button.

I hope someone just remakes it, so it is thicker in the neck and has a regular GH strum bar with the clickety-clack.
And compatible with GH.

probably not since putting 15 frets on a guitar won't help when there's only 5 actual button-notes being played. Sort of a waste. Always interested in 3rd party peripherals though, so I can't wait either. I want a Strat-type guitar with the same strum bar (soft and mushy so I can play with a pick!) but one with a strum bar that doesn't break after 5 songs ;)

I always thought it would look cool to play all the way up the neck on a run ;)
But I agree, I want a nice soft strum bar so I can pick and fingerpick without loud noises.

my Strat was AWESOME with a pick before it died...I REALLY love the feel of the strumbar. The frets are a bit odd as they feel a lot different than the GH controllers do, but I can get used to anything if I can play it long enough.
Sadly, the Strat broke before I could even figure out how to properly use the 5-way switch, and I never got to try the solo frets either. EA says I'll be able to do that in 3-5 business days so I'm practicing with my 360 Explorer (since my gf won't get off the drum stool...)
