I can only hear the main vocals from the song, not from my friends that I am playing with. They've tried using the X, B, and Y buttons to change hte settings during the song but that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone know how you can hear a friend sing instead of hearing the main track? Thanks!

There is no way to do this.

Yeah there was a similar post about this same issue somewhere else in the tech forum. From what i understand it has to do with mic latency issues. The game was designed so that you can never hear the online vocalist sing. He's there and jamming with you guys, you just can't hear him. bummer

Hold the shoulder buttons down when you sing.
You're always a half beat behind, though.

It was meant to be used as a chat function, not a bypass.

how pathetic is that feature??? Why in the heck would you ever want to play online with someone singing if you can't hear them? That is probably the stupid idea ever on their part..

well, for the couple of songs that i DID play online. I did hear the guy singing. maybe he was holding the shoulder buttons down. But, I could in fact hear him. who knows. I'll test this out tonight when I get home from work.

No, it was a good idea because network lag is nearly always going to cause the voice to be delayed and make the song sound horrible.

I haven't tried it yet - I'll try pressing the shoulder buttons. I don't like the fact that they can't hear you singing.... What they could have done is to give players an option during online play to listen to the PERSON or the actual game singer. This way, if there IS not network lag, people have the option, and if there IS lag, they could simply opt out.

Is that too complicated of a solution? I mean, it might be. Personally, I'd rather have the option to. I have high speed and rarely get lag. I think most people do, too.

This was a lose-lose situation for Harmonix. Without the feature people complain that they can't hear the voice, with the feature people will complain that it "doesn't work" because of the lag.

Harmonix took the route of not including something at all that will only work sometimes (no guitar jokes, please! :p)

If you hold one of the bumper buttons on your controller, your voice will transit over LIVE. You can do it for the whole song, but they don't recommend it.

Some of you may have heard me doing it with the vocals. I'm the one that started it the night this came out.

BAsically I found during each phrase I'll hold down the shoulder, then let up. Hopefully they fix this soon, because I hate having to hold the stupid controller while I'm singing with the mic.

I've done it as well, and generally, people aren't impressed, due to the lag / quality... So I've stopped doing it, unless someone else in the band asks me to.

They could have made it work, by making the singer play slightly ahead of everyone else (so that there's time for their voice to make it over to the other players) but that has it's own issues I guess they wanted to avoid.
