So what exactly do you hate about it? Really man, don't be so negative when posting. A lot of people are having problems and there isn't any reason to be rude about it =\

great first post... i love it when people sign up just so they say something negative.

Seriously, this guitar is the best I've played on any rythym game. It's larger size gives you more of a feeling that your actually holding a guitar. The five way switch is also pretty cool, and the when I first realized I could finger tap the entire solo without one strum, I knew the Srat was the best virtual guitar ever made. The whammy bar feels stronger and has a wider range of motion, and the select (or back for the 360) button is placed in a more convienient position. I really don't know how anyone could not like this guitar.

Maybe if it wasn't working properly, but I haven't had a single problem.

the strum bar on this guitar is lacking in quality BIG time, i am a guitar hero vet and even the ps2 gh1 controller surpasses this heap of junk in consistency. I can speed strum TTFAF on my gh1 guitar for ps2 but cant get through the strums in run to the hills without breaking my combo? give me a GD break man. and give me a new strum bar.

The solo fret buttons are also pretty terrible as they were advertised as never needing to strum when using them during a solo. guess what? they lied.

The whammy bar hits the effects switcher ALL THE FREAKING TIME. I can't count how many times i have whammied only to swap back down to echo , get distracted thinking wtf just happened, and then missed a note. I am also pretty pissed at how close the back button is to the strum bar, full whammy bar hits it ALL the time and so does my hand. bleh.

The construction of the guitar itself is flimsy, i hear the plastic creak constantly and can't stand the fragile feel of it. again, the gh1 guitar i have from ps2 is still rocking my ps2 copy of gh3 years later and this one doesn't feel like it will last until my next DLC purchase.

Dare i continue?

^^ thats why I'm starting to hate this guitar now.. one night of playing and I'm getting a replacement sent from EA.

which really isn't _that_ big of a deal, however i can bet you money that im going to have to get the replacement replaced, and then get the replacement of the replacement replaced...

other then the fact that the strumming mechanism is trash, i think all the points mentioned are huge improvements over the previous guitars.

I also think the button are too "clacky" . They tried to silence the "clickity clickity" that is infamous to guitar hero nerds by implementing a terrible strum bar and then go and make the buttons loud as hell.

Not a big fan of the strum bar that feels likes it's going to fall out of the guitar at any moment. I mean, it works OK, just have to get used to the fact that it doesn't click like the older ones. I'm also not a big fan of the notes as bars intead of circles but that's for another topic.

I also like the feel of the new guitar. Feels much more like playing a real guitar. If only my downstrum hadn't broken already (does the double-click thing).

That's funny...last time I played I tried them out and they worked just fine without strumming. Someone is lying here and I don't think it's Harmonix.

Honestly I'm DYING for them to release some more durable renditions of this guitar (though thankfully it seems like small mods may also work as a fix) because I ADORE it!

I have ALOT of problems with the GH3 guitar due to my small hands and such. It's difficult for me to reach all the buttons and the fat nature of the guitar causes it to dig into my wrist. Heck! Back on PS2 I just used my Guitar Freaks guitar and stayed in Easy (since the GF guitar has only 3 buttons).

With THIS guitar, however, I am able to do Normal with ease and may even be able to move up to hard without destroying my brain. It doesn't eat into my wrist and is generally comfortable to use. Personal opinion and all, but if they fixed up the durability issues I'd be all up ons this guitar (I wish I could use it with GH3!).

I was totally excited about the new strat when i purchased rock band... it worked great and i loved it untill.... as expected, the mushy strum bar only records about half the down strums unless depressed all the way. It started out smooth as silk... barely had to tap it... now i have to slap it guitar hero style....other then this garbage strum bar i agree with whoever said that about "clacky" buttons...they made the strum bar silent and in turn made the loudest fret buttons ever lol..

This guitar looks better on paper then it does in reality...I also had problems with the drums ( buts thats another topic ) Bottom line: I hope they have a solid fix for all these problems.. hardware is essential...

I like the design of the guitar but whenever i strum it strums twice so i can't get through the songs. Harmonix I think got a little lazy on the guitar and focused on he game that is great.

I must just be lucky. I've playing on mine pretty consistently and haven't had any problems. I love the "lack-o-clack" strum bar and the solo buttons. The whammy bar is a bit too long, but that's a minor adjustment. So far, loving it.

Some of you whiny brats must really be miserable!
This guitar kicks the crap out of any previous fake guitar, it actually fits, and feel more real, I have about 8 hours on it between 4 different people playing and nobody has had any problems at all.
If you suck at something at first you need to practice, and if you don't get used to that you will stay miserable your whole life.

Agreed, the Strat is the best guitar controller I've used so far, except for the pitiful excuse for a strum bar. Come on Harmonix, using foam to rebound the strum bar? I was doing just fine with it until I myseriously failed Black Hole Sun due to double strums and other strums not registering. Switched over to my GHII Xplorer and I hit 98% of the notes. I don't think I'm the problem.

I personally love the new guitar. It feels more natural, and I like having the option to play the larger buttons down the neck or the smaller buttons up the neck. I also think the whammy bar is easier to hold while strumming, and I'm thankful for the larger Start buttons.

However, all these improvements don't help the fact that my controller already exhibits the broken down-strum, forcing me to retire it until I get a replacement and use my other guitars. Some degree of defects are unavoidable in a new controller release, but judging from the number of people having the same specific problem (strum bar dying early), I can't help but think we have a real quality control issue here.

Here's hoping Harmonix & Co. move quickly to resolve it.

Did you even try that out? The higher fret buttons work fine. You don't have to strum when you use them in solo sections. Just as advertised.

My strum bar is now almost useless. I am an expert level GH player and I'm not whining. Unfortunetley I purchased the PS3 version of the game so no other guitar I have will work. The drums and vocals are great! I hope they fix the strum bar issue before they release the individual periferals.

I played Rock Band in Los Angeles, in Pittsburgh, and now in my home in New York. What I had hoped was just temporary hardware issues turned out to be the final product. I agree with a great number of you: the strum bar is just too awkward. While I admire how close the fret buttons are to each other, a vast improvement from the Guitar Hero franchise, I just can't hit anywhere near as many notes on the 'Caster.

It's a middle ground for me. I love the fret buttons being so close, and I feel spoiled going back to the old controllers, but there's no sense in having close fret buttons if the strum isn't perfect.

The Solo buttons have worked perfectly for me. My only complaint, like many people, is the strum bar. I like down strumming all the time, and the guitar doesn't register quick enough for me to do that successfully. My only option is to pinch the strum bar and jiggle it up and down, but that's not enjoyable to me. I sent in a request for a replacement, but I'm not too optimistic about this batch of guitars. Hopefully they figure out a way to fix the problem, and work that into the manufacturing, so that we eventually get great guitars as replacements.

This is not a fix for everyone having issues with there down strum, but I to was having issue with my down strum but have since overcome it. Strumming a little lighter than I would on GH guitars has proven to allow me to keep long fast streaks going. Just try strumming without fully depressing the strum bar and keep a firm grip on the strummer so it doesn't accidentally double strum.

Again I'm not saying this will fix your issues, but I was ready to complain about the strummer until I realized it was my fault, and playing it more like a real guitar solved the issue.

I'd be perfectly happy if they just put the old strum bar back in. Sure the clicking is annoying but its not unbearable.

I LOVE my old GH1 controller, I bought it USED at gamestop, I rocked out too hard and broke the whammy bar and the sound turned DEEP all of a sudden, I don't know what happens but I love it.
I love the fret buttons too, they were small and easy to hit. I would still use it if I could, but now I'm on the 360.

I like the weight of the GH3 Les Paul controller (Xbox 360.) I DON'T like the fret buttons on it, they're too big, and I don't like wireless, it's a annoying when the batteries go out mid-song.

As for the Rock Band guitar... I'm not sure... I love the extra set of buttons, and I LOVE the effects switch (I keep mine on flange) but the whammy bar always hits it, I have to be careful when I'm using it. I also noticed that when I hit the whammy bar using the GH3 controller, the energy meter fills up QUICK, but using the strat controller it just sort of inches its way up.
I noticed that strumming on the Strat is a lot easier, I can't explain why it just is...
Too bad my strum bar broke. :|

I also use mine without strumming. This guy just wants to complain. Go play guitar hero chump.

This guitar is superior to any other that has come out in every way. I for one thoroughly enjoy the fact that when someone is playing I DONT hear the clacking from the strut bar through the walls.

the only two things I don't like about the guitar is the selector switch (it's a gimmick and completely unnecesary), and the STRUM BAR.

First thing about the strum bar, mine is broke. Second, I strum the controller like I do my acoustic guitar: with my pointer finger. The GH strum bars are smooth and EASY to move up and down in fast motion, very friction free. The rockband strum bar is STIFF and feels like stirring MOLASSES. In 'Creep' during the fast part, my finger was HOT from all the friction of slamming against the strum bar (which didn't want to register no matter how hard i hit it)!! Not to mention that the design lends itself to people who pinch it with their pointer and thumb fingers and just hold it. The GH sb was great for both strummers and pinchers. Now instead of concentrating on just the rythm like I could with the GH sb, I have to account for how much this mushy strum bar is going to slow down my strumming and it doesnt work!!!! PLEASE JUST GIVE ME A GUITAR THAT WORKS!!!! THE ROCKBAND BUTTONS AND THE GH STRUM BAR!!!! THAT'S ALL I WANT!

I like the RB guitar controller far more than the Guitar Hero guitar. The strum bar is different, all you gotta do is get used to it. How does the sound effects switcher make it worse of a guitar? Just because it is a gimmick, it shouldnt be brought down for having it. The solo buttons work perfectly, no strumming required. I play many songs just with them to get used to them and now I can hit some really hard solo parts.

Add me to the broken strum bar club, I just requested a replacment from EA. Funny thing is if they keep breaking we keep getting replacments but once 60 days is up the warranty is gone and they wont replace it anymore.

thats fine if it works... but it just doesn't after awhile...everyone i know personally has problems with this strum bar including me... mine just stopped recording down strums. the clicking seems to be needed for a quality strum bar... go back to what worked... GH3 les paul is the best strum bar hands down...

It's a piece of junk sheerly because the darn thing was broken for me within 6 hour of getting it.

That's even beyond crappy quality hardware, that is pathetic and disgusting.

My downstrum is broken, as with many other people. The game itself is awesome, if I could put a GH strum bar in the strat it would be the ultimate controller.

I freakin love this new game, and I love the guitar. I love that it looks awesome, is full size, doesn't have the color buttons like the GH guitars (just on the top), and I like the silent strumming. I hope they don't change it, or find a good medium between the way it is, and feeling some type of slight "click" for all those of you who just HATE the strumming. I always thought the GH strumming was SO distracting... I just had to turn up the tv... shouldn't HAVE to do that.

Also, the buttons on the frets - not so good. I like the silent strumming, but the buttons should definitely be more silent and SMOOTHER than they are. They seem very spaced apart and harder to press. In this, I thought GH3 came out with a good release, as did GH2 with the Xbox guitar.

Sucks that you can't use a GH guitar with this game on the PS3!!!!!

one more thing, it could be a little Less sensitive to Energy Power... It kept activating itself while I was playing still - and the neck wasn't straight up, just slightly tilted, like a normal comfortable playing position. I don't like playing with the neck down just so I don't get the Energy activated before I'd like.
