Well being a Dependant of my of my parents I had told my mother for a long time that I wanted this game. As the months and weeks went by I was getting more and more excited waiting to play the game. All my friends have guitar hero, and I've never played it, so I thought hey since Rock Band was coming out I could get a Guitar hero style game, the guitar and a few other stuff to play.I waited outside of the Toys'r'us the day it came out and I got my copy, which was a strenuous money issue because of Thanksgiving and the game costing about 180$+ after taxes. The game was initially going to be a Christmas gift, and I'm sure a large number are still going to be gifts not opened for a while. but I digress, I begged everyday until today when I finally got my Ma to give me the game and let me play it with my younger cousin. I played the drums and he played the guitar, and we had fun for about 5 hours. Thats about the time when the guitar started to act weird. When my cousin, who was playing every thing on Easy, was hitting every note correctly the game kept saying he was hitting the bar way too many more times then he was actually doing it. When I finally mentioned this to my mother she was furious, AT ME! because I had to get the game right when it came out so I got a game with flaws and wasted a piece of her thanksgiving check on it. And I got yelled at for a long time about it. in the end my mother said that she couldn't stand to see my face and sent me away to another room. then she proclaimed that she didn't want to spend thanksgiving with me because of this.
Thanks Rock Band, you ruined the Holidays for me.
Will I ever receive even an apologetic note from them? sadly no.
never have I had a game that literally ruined my life for a period of time.
All I can say is I've told a lot of people not ot buy this game that where already planning. the game will still sell out in stores, and I can only hope that the people that bought the game for their children as X-mas Gifts find out the problem in time before their warranty expires.
the game is fun, until it breaks, which happened to everyone I know who owns the game (8 people to be exact)
I already sent away for a new guitar via the Warranty, having to give my credit card info again. With their track record so far, I wouldn't expect my new guitar to come on time and me have to pay upwards of 80$ because of it.
Again, I'll most likely not receive and apology, and god knows I'm not expecting any compensation from anyone in league with Microsoft.
*sigh*
and if I don't get an apology I'll probably not be buying anything from these people ever again.
But like I said, I'm not expecting even a word from them.

You definitely needed one of those :( Sorry to hear about all that man. Best I can tell you is to wait it out for the new guitar, shouldn't cost anything and if you actually do have to pay anything I wouldn't imagine it being over 10 dollars. Which still would kinda suck, I don't see why I should pay for something that a company should of had working. But it's a launch item man, you have to realize that. They're trying their best to get it out there and let people enjoy it and this just happens to be a problem. So far I've beaten every song on expert with guitar and it's working fine. Even played with a few friends online with band quick play.
So not everyone is having this problem, if my guitar breaks then oh well. Nothing much I can do but wait for a new one while I play drums, those break too. I'll sing... Mic breaks I'll just let my inner clown molest me until I get all my instruments back :( I really don't want that to happen though. Anyways, back to being serious. I really hope you get a fully working guitar and nothing else messes up on you man :) And try to reason with your mom, Thanksgiving is definitely a time you want to spend with your family, not alone. Just mention a good bit of people are having this problem and it's actually better you found out now rather than during x-mas (or your x-mas would of been ruined and that'd reall suck). I'm more than sure the new guitar you get though will work flawlessly :)

There has to be more to it than
"Mom the guitar broke"
"It did, you ruined Thanksgiving!"
And if that really is it, your mom needs to relax.

Quit *****ing, you didn't even earn the game. My parents would have NEVER ran out and bought me a gift as expensive as that without earning every single penny of it. But that's not the point. Your parents aren't actually going to make you not have Thanksgiving, and if they do, they need to relax. It wasn't your fault that it broke, and I'm sure your parents will understand this after they cool down. But in the meantime, just wait for the guitar to return and put this behind you. I am confident Harmonix will replace your broken game, but I can't be sure. Best of wishes.

If your mom really reacted that way to this situation, you have much bigger problems than a broken guitar.

Why is it you had to give credit card info?

Yea same happened with me and my friend. The guitar just went kaput and wouldnt turn on anymore. Do we have to mail it to them or does the gamestop store exchange ifyou got thier warranty.

Why is it you had to give credit card info?
You only have to give them credit card info if you want "express" service which means they send you a new one before you send back the old one. They only charge you if they don't get the old one back in 28 days. Normal service where you send back the old one and get a new one does not require a credit card.

If your family is so volatile that a single mishap on a day of many events, such as Thanksgiving, can grind your holidays to a halt, then your family needs to go to crisis management classes...
