I would think they don't take their themes seriously, but I wouldn't call them a joke band.

theyve gotten much more serious with their themes there are songs now that are really classic metal (i.e. biomechanic man) but they are really "KISS" rock as i like to call it but theyve changed their sound alot and their songs now have deeper story lines then they used to
