How to be 'leader' in online quickplay?

Whenever I start a game as the leader, someone else joins and takes over my leader spot which allows me not to choose the song. How do I make it so I am leader in quickplay? Sick of playing crappy songs.

I think it does this randomly. So that way you are always the leader when you are the only one, but when it connects you to other people, it randomly selects a leader.

Yeah, I've actually been wondering the opposite! XD I keep ending up as leader when I kinda don't want to be (because I know my taste in music sucks (Here It Goes Again is my favorite thus far :P) and I really don't care what song we play).

i googled looking for an answer why i haven't been "band leader" in about fifty online plays. it is getting extremely tiresome to kick ass with a band only to have the score not count because the jackass that was designated band leader had 'no fail' on.

? am i barking up an old dead tree ?

Well, in RB3, scores count even if you have No Fail on.
In RB2, I don't think it even let you play online with No Fail enabled.

I think "band leader" is totally random.

Yeah, dibattista's comment is a little confusing, because in RB3 solo scores save even with no fail on, and I think you're right, ricecake, about it not allowing you online with it on, but even if it did - are you really splitting hairs over BQP scores with randoms?

Well, you can know if you are going to be the band leader or not.
By going to your player's start menu while you are in Finding Online Players.

If Online Options is Highlighted (White texted), Then you are going to be the leader.
If it is not highlighted (Dull Gray texted), Then you are not going to be the leader and the game is joining you with someone who is going to be the leader.

I use that to judge when I want to be the leader or just wait till the random people I find pick something.
