Sending Invites on PS3

I see where you can check your invites in the community menu, but how do you send them?

I dont have it yet but i think that you go into a Public or Private game and then there should be a button to send an invite to friend when you press that button your friends list should come up and then you send them an invite then when that friend goes online and he checks his/her invites he accepts and joins your game.

Go to multiplayer and start your own room, then choose the option "invite friends" instead of "look for players" you will be only able to invite friends that are on your friends list (obviuosly).
