Hello,

I just bought a new RB2 wireless guitar, right out of the box, put some new batteries in it, turned on the console and the guitar, and both have just flashing lights showing they are both looking for a connection.

I pressed the connect button on the guitar then on the xbox, and the lights just circle around on the console, and on the guitar they just blink. Same thing happens if I press the connect button on the console first. I didn't find anything in the instructions or online, has anyone had this problem? Is it a faulty guitar?

The system works fine with wireless controllers, I just tried two different ones. It also works fine with RB1 wired instruments. Any suggestions? The online support troubleshooter decided it was a faulty instrument based on two answers =P But I'm not so sure. Thanks a lot for the help!

Press the connect button on the Xbox 360 and on the guitar. The connecting button on the guitar is in the gap underneath the whammy bar I believe.

Yeah I realized that everyone has been saying "press" or "hit" the sync buttons, and I take that as a "poke it" not a "hold it"...since you have to hold down both buttons on both devices at the same time...so it turns out to be a semantical problem on my part I suppose, I wish that was clearer in the instructions...

After a few months I was able to find these steps that work on my system. Now I need someone to try it on theirs to confirm these steps as a universal solution.
The problem seems to be related to a timing issue so time is a big factor in this solution. You must go through all of these steps before the console stops searching otherwise you will need to start over.

Below are the exact steps that must be taken:

1. First turn on your Xbox and let it boot all the way up.
2. Now take the battery cover off the guitar and power it up.
(the battery cover removal will make sense in a moment)
3. After that hit the search button on the Xbox 360 console and the lights on the console should start to rotate.
4. Next start the search on the guitar.
5. Once the guitar lights start to animate quickly remove one of the batteries and put it back.
6. Now power up the guitar again.
7. Finally as soon as the guitar powers up hit the search button on the guitar and it should connect.

Note: all of this must be done before the Xbox stops its connection search.
If the console stops searching before you power the guitar up and search again you will need to start from the beginning.
