Right off the bat: if you couldn't care less about what Brian Johnson is singing on this album (which admittedly is pretty terrific no matter [I]what[I] the words are) stop reading. Now. Click on another thread, go away, or play the game some more!
Ok...for those who are left: I gotta admit, one reason I'm hoping "Rock N Roll Train" comes to RB2 is because I'd love to know exactly what the lyrics as originally written down by Young and Young are supposed to be. Oh sure, you can go online and read hundreds of mangled versions of the song--most likely written by people who still think John Fogerty is singing about a "bathroom on the right" in Bad Moon Rising! No help, trust me! And the special edition Black Ice CD, which does indeed include the lyrics, wants us to believe that "old school rebel" translates as "all screwed up"...so clearly, whoever did the transcribing for the CD is not to be trusted, either!
Specifically, here's my query: Johnson opens the second verse by saying something that may or may not be "One hard ringing bell" or "One hot ring a bell", neither of which make the least bit of sense to me. For any Australian AC/DC fans out there: is this a local bit of slang? Or am I just clueless as to what he's actually singing? See, if this song gets put in the game, the good folks at Harmonix are gonna have to get the words right so us vocalists can go about destroying our vocal cords...provided the right words are there, not such a bad thing, right?
Maybe no one else gives a damn about this--but I thought I should at least try to put it out there and see what answers I get from fellow devil-horned fanatics...

And one more thing: Is the line that follows "A ten for the revelry" supposed to be
1) "Diming out the agency",
2) "Jamming up the agency", or
3) "Diamond of the agency"
The correct answer wins you a pair of tickets to an AC/DC show you have no possible chance of attending, since airfare isn't included!

OK, let me make this clear: THIS IS A CALL FOR HELP! (And yes, I tried acdc.com as well, and you can't even READ the forum threads unless you join the fan club, which--as it ain't free--I'd prefer not to do!) Now certainly SOME RB fan out there has heard or read something I have not regarding Rock N Roll Train's lyrics...or was my original guess right, and the vast majority of ya don't care what the hell BJ is screamin' as long as the guitars sound good?

Dude calm down. lol. Being a long time AC/DC fan, I don't think there really is an answer, because AC/DC's lyrics usually don't mean anything. Or the lyrics are double entendre's for sexual inuendo. Like the song "Giving the Dog a Bone" :p If the songs don't make sense one way, approach it from another angle and suddenly you "get it".
AC/DC's lyrics and music are the equivalent of a B movie. You know it's dumb, but it's hard to turn away.

Great, fine, peachy keen. So I guess during the song I can go "blah blah blah" instead of using actual words, huh?
Look: I'm not saying this is Shakespeare or something with any kind of deep meaning--but the Young brothers obviously intended a certain group of words to be the lyrics; and it seems only right to find out exactly what those words are, regardless of what they do or don't mean or what sense they (most likely) don't make.
I'm guessing that, as the first verse juxtaposes a "hot angel" and a "cool devil", a similar pattern could be suggested in the second verse: thus, an "old school rebel" would probably have something to do with a "hot (or hard) ringing bell"...as in, a school bell ringing. As far as the "agency" line: "diming out" means informing (on), which you'd be more likely to do to an agency than "jam (something) up" it, yes?
Whaddaya bet the band spent about a fifth of the time on these lyrics than I'm spending? Pity, though, that whoever put the special edition CD together even bothered with printing the lyrics, as it appears they had no interest in actually getting them right.

And as Forrest Gump said, "That's all I have to say about that." Glad to see that so many of the RB community care so deeply about this thread that it keeps dropping off the first page. Well, what the hell--Black Ice is a winner; and Rock N Roll Train is a new classic for the band no matter what's being said therein. It seems to be a fact that most folks are perfectly content to simply continue singing the wrong words...kinda like Nuke LaLoosh in Bull Durham ("She may get woolly/Young girls, they do get woolly/'Cause of all the stress...")
Fine, never mind. Go start another "I hate the 20 free songs" thread; we need another one of those.

Redonk: are those grande latte enemas the source of your oh-so-clever wit?
For what it's worth: posted this same subject on acdcrocks.com, and whaddaya know--folks actually cared and tried to help!
And lastly, I don't drink coffee. However, I admit: it's been two whole weeks without a good fellating, which works much, much better than decaf.
