they gave us this wonderful little adapter for this reason (xbox version) yet after hooking up the headset to the guitar AND drums, it fails to read the headset as a mic.

anyone have any idea how this is supposed to work?

I just tuck the mic in my neck hole of my shirt and it pushes against the front of my chin. I may look like an idiot, but it gets the job done, and I don't want to buy a mic stand.

*grumble grumble* ..stupid drummer not coming over...

The headset should work the same as a microphone - be sure to plug in an Xbox controller to control the vocalist.

i tried that and still got no response. turned on a controller (as player 3) and put the headset into the guitar and drums, with no response

Try plugging the headset into the controller. Plugging the headset into your guitar and drums should only activate voice chat in online play for that instrument/player. Let me know if that works.

I bought a mic stand at best buy for 30 bucks. You can find them cheaper at music stores but the one i got is perfect. Next up I need to find a store that carries fog machines and disco balls.

I've been playing with vocals and guitar all day. Man, it is by far the coolest thing you can do with this game! I have a real mic stand and it works perfectly for the rock band mic. It really helps if you are pretty familiar with the song before attempting the 2 instrument performance. It's soooo hard to read the lyrics AND read the guitar notes at the same time. But hey, i can get 90%+ on expert for both guitar and vocals on radiohead - creep! Woohoo!

That would be called Spencer's Gifts.

I've been doing a 1-person BWT for a while, with guitar and mic, and it's worked out fairly well. There are times when there are songs I don't know, so I have to b.s. my way through the lyrics as best I can, and hope not to fail more than 2-3 times. As long as I have overdrive waiting, it isn't a problem.

I recently reached the 600,000 point limit for playing on Hard (my band is The Toe Four, on the leaderboards), so I've bumped it up to Expert guitar and vocals, and it's, um, kind of challenging. It's fun and frustrating all at the same time, because you have to assume you know the song and are singing on pitch, so that you can focus your eyes on the guitar notes.

I can usually do Hard/Hard but in BWT I do Med/Med so I can actually get 5* on most things. I suppose the songs I can sing really well I'd be able to do Expert/Expert but I haven't tried yet.

It really comes down to how well you know the song. Vocals are easiest to learn but it helps to have some idea of the guitar chart too.

I order to get a great experience for my buddies and I, I went and dropped $20 on a mic stand. I tried it out by playing BWT with vocal and guitar only. I picked Roxanne and Highway Star and put both instruments on Med difficulty. I 5-stared them both. Very fun in a totally nerdy way! The best part was activating overdrive for both parts at the same time giveing my band a multiplier boost! :D

I just use the mic that came with the game...but I also had two mic stands laying around the house. (Oh the joys of being a musician.) But its alot of fun, everyone shoudl atleast try it.
