UK/Europe, Seriously whats the hold up?

After watching a load of stuff on Gamespot I am REALLY pining for Rock Band, but from the (little) news there is concerning the European release date, I am hearing "estimated" Q1 2008...

What the hell? Do I have to wait till next YEAR to get my fix? How is that fair?
Seriously I was really hoping to get this before christmas, but as usual those of us NOT in the glorious U S of A get shafted.

When can we expect an official announcement on our release date? I can understand there are translation issues for a lot of Europe but that doesn't really cut the mustard for those of us in the UK where, shock horror, English is the language of choice.

Also nothing has been mentioned about the price, though no doubt we well get shafted there to, though I accept that is not the fault of Harmonix.


In closing can we just get a little more info with regards to release? Even if its only if we can expect it before or after Christmas would be nice. Though I will be very disappointed if it turns out to be after. Just annoys the hell out of me when I see all these glowing reviews and people raving over how much fun it is to know the my friends and I not only cant join in, but are in the dark about when we WILL be able to.

Well apparently it's due to content localisation, though the fact that they delayed the canadian release really emphasizes that they are struggling to simply manufacture enough to get up with demand.

Yeah I was hoping that maybe we could get some exclusive (free?) content. But I'm not going to hold my breath or anything.

Hey there.

There will be at least 5 different Rockband version in Europe, all with localized content for specific countries. (German songs for Germany, Spanish songs for Spain and so on...)
Of course the 45 main songs form the original US version are also in the game (or at least HMX once said so).

I think it will still take some time until the game is released outside of the US/Canada.

Plus you have to realize, when developers localize a game, they can't just ship a PAL version to England in English or some such. It's typically a 'Euro' version that has AT LEAST the big 5 languages (english, spanish, french, german, italian)

Couple the time of inputting new text strings for each language, making sure they're correct, modifying the UI to fit words, then submitting to SCEA or Microsoft to see if it PASSES the Format QA process... it takes a couple months.
