View Full Version : A New Game...

I have an XBox 360 and I was curious, which one of theses games should I get?

Fable II sounds neat. My friend talks about it and describes it as Grand Theft Auto + World Of Warcraft. But I have no idea if what he said remotely makes any sense...

Call Of Duty IV is praised a lot and I've never played this particular game. I used to have Call Of Duty 3 and I absolutely hated it. What is so great about COD4? I would love to get it and see what the fuss is about but I don't want to spend a lot of money if it's gonna suck...

If other than those games, could you please mention another one and why?

Thanks,

Ferocious Q

Gears of War 1+2

They wreak so much epicness it's not funny.

But campaign is only fun with another guy.

out of those two, if you like shooters, go with CoD4. Its amazing. Great visuals, solid online, epic campaign, and its made my IW, not treyarch (treyarch made CoD3, and the new CodW@W)

Fable is a action RPG. Its fun, but short. It does merit a couple replays, but its hour value =/= CoD4. If you like RPGs, go fable.

My personal recommendation? Orange Box. Its a year old, but its a solid collection of great shooters. Its the best value in gaming.

Rock band 2 is great, although pricey if you need new instruments.

Fallout 3 comes out tomorrow night, and looks epic. It seems very Oblivion-ish.

oblivion. Awesome game. Ipersonally have logged ~ 350 hours into it. Its cheap too because its old.

Gears 2 will have a big multiplayer following.

These are all must plays. Play em if you havent, or when they come out (gears 2 and fallout 3)

well, lets break em down...im on lunch @ work...i have time to kill.

Fable is a 3rd person action/adventure rpg. Think...Champoins of Norrath. Traverse the world, kill monsters and baddies, earn xp, spend xp, repeat. On the outside at least. Delve a little deeper, and you see how you can buy property, marry people, have protected/unprotected sex (with kids and STD's to boot!) and so on and so forth. Its a short game, roughly 11-14 hours. But it merits at minimum 2 playthroughs....

Fallout is a post nuclear war game. It will be open environmented, and allow you to explore D.C., except...its all mangled by the nuclear war. It is a more traditional "western RPG" which pretty much means, real time, level system, so on. Its looks great, and comes out soon. To get a feel for what it seems it will play like, play oblivion.

FarCry is a shooter as well. Classic 1st person. The environments are BEAUTIFUL, and the game handles well. Its also free roaming, so you start any mission, at any time, and any order. Lots of great gunplay, but it does have a few drawbacks.(poor character models. Lots of "downtime" while traveling from location to location). I enjoy it so far.

Dead Space is a rental. Its an awesome game. Scary, gory, innovative. It plays like RE4, except, instead of aiming for the head, you aim for their limbs, to de-limb monsters. Its pretty cool, but the big downside is that the WHOLE game is A>B>A. Its really linear, so you have no exploration at all. Oh, and its less than 10 hours. I beat it at 9:15 i believe.

Gears is a third person shooter. Run, take cover, shoot. It uses the U3 engine, and is one of the most beautiful looking games to run on said engine. (i think Mass Effect ran on U3 too, and if so, that is THE most awesome looking u3 game). lots of gore and viscera, and a plethora of weapons for slaughtering hoards of enemies. It will be great for online matches, and has a co-op story mode.

CoD4 is a first person shooter. Unlike Farcry, CoD4 is a linear shooter, but its story is epic, and has a lot of intense action (like being a sniper, and hiding in grass as tanks roll past you, only 5 feet away). The real shining point is the multiplayer though. Its the first game to get multiplayer 100% right. How do you keep people playing online? REWARD THEM! The more you play, you gain xp, and as you level up, you unlock challenges (kill 2 people with 1 sniper bullet) and new weapons. Get to level 55, and then repeat from the beginning, in exchange for a cool symbol. I have 2 days of online play, or so. Which, 50 hours for a game aint bad, considering i spent another 20 or so on the story.

Well, thats all you listed. Anymore, just ask me.

I wouldn't let your opinion of CoD 3 cloud your view of CoD 4... two different developers made them.

(And I just realized someone else mentioned this already... I really need to hit refresh before posting to a thread a pulled up a while ago...)

Cod4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cod3

What he said. COD4 has everthing modern and it makes it so much better than all the WWII ones. Plus the last mission is badass but I won't give it away. *hint hint* Don't miss;)*hint hint*

Call of Duty 4 is an amazing game, one of the best FPS out there:)

Fallout 3, wait for the reviews though, even though I am getting it, if you do not want to spend the money, wait :)

Gears of War 2 is coming out, so the first on should be cheaper, I hated the multiplayer but the campaign was amazing:) (I never played the game in a while though, and it wasn't even on my account so the multiplayer may have been improved)

Fable 2 (I have never played it, but heard it was awesome) seems like a good choice if based on reviews

I would also pick up (if you don't already have it, that is) Mass Effect, an excellent RPG :) hope it helps!
