This might sound odd, but I am curious as to whether anybody with knowledge of real drum machines/MIDI devices/drum triggers would know if it is possible to rig up the RB drum kit to a computer and use it as a make shift drum trigger for pre loaded drum sound effects.
I have a real guitar and think it would be fun to jam with the fam for real without having to buy an expensive drum pad machine. Just map the sounds that you want to the 4 pads and the bass to the kicker pedal
If this is not possible, I think it would be really cool for the RB devs to offer a DLC option for "Freestyle Mode" in the game where you can play the drum kit without having to play a song with the background music or scrolling notes...just practice drums only, or as I said, if you have a real guitarist with you, they could play on a practice amp while you jam out in Freestyle mode through the game.
I suppose you would have to give up a symbol since there are only 4 pads but even 1 tom, 1 snare 1 symbol and the bass kicker would be cool. Who knows, they might offer add ons in the future.
Just some thoughts on how the game could be even better.

The freestyle mode of drums doesn't seem like it would be hard to pull off.
Just make one infinate drum fill. That'd be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

According to this video, they are working on a program for users to create their own music. I guess it uses the peripherals or something...
It's at 3:33 into this video.

The guitar freestyle could not really work since there are only ten keys on the guitar so you could only have 10 pre defined notes that you could play on it. I suppose you could do simple songs like twinkle twinkle little star or mary had a little lamb or anything by ac/dc but the rock the mic freestyle could certainly work as long as you had a singer that did not mind going acappella (singing with no background music)
*the jab at ac/dc was done tongue in cheek...I love ac/dc as much as the next guy but they have a reputation as having simplistic guitar and it has even been said that most of their music is comprised of basically 3 common chords ;) *

drummers in fact DO get the chicks, in my observation. more than viola players, that's for sure.
what would be sweet on top of freestyle mode would be a second set of drum heads (like an enhancement pack) that fits over the current set like cymbals, in case you want to really feel like you're playing a drum set.

I would not be at all surprised if that is not in the works. Add ons = $$$ so it is just a matter of them finding out if there is enough intrest in such a thing and with how ape poo everyone seems to be going over the entire package paticularly the drums, I am betting that we will see some sort of expansion pack for the drums at some point. I was thinking of adding a real cow bell to my set up,
You can always use more cow bell.
BTW I was kidding about drummers not getting the chicks. Look at Long Dong Tommy Lee

IT WOUJLD BE ALSOME, though it would be hard b/c of the two middle pads converting to differet thing, though it is possible, i would play on a 5 piece drume, a snare, two cymbles a drum thena bass, sounds cool to me. Just dont go in my room, you could lose an eye to my flying sticks
