I bought GHWT at midnight on Sunday and last night I traded it in. Got $26.50 for it. Then I put it towards Gears 2 which gave me another 5 bucks giving me $31.50. What a rip.

welcome to free trade and world economics.....

"depreciation - definition of depreciation - A noncash expense that reduces the value of an asset as a result of wear and tear, age, or obsolescence"

go buy a new car, sign the papers, and ask to trade it back in. watch how much money you lose without ever putting a single mile on it.

You should have sold it on amazon. Don't call it a rip and go through with it. You had other options.

This is nothing new. Next time sell it on ebay like someone suggested on that other thread you posted in about this.

Come on man, in your last thread someone actually TOLD YOU how much they would give you back.

Not to mention that no one forced you to buy the game, then take it to Gamestop to trade it in a day later. Quit blaming other people here, this is clearly your fault.

But I would like to chalk one up to karma on this one. After all, you were the one touting in the Stride thread about blatantly trying to rip the system by using 43204032 e-mails and never getting a free song. Karma doesn't lie. :)

I fail to see how Gamestop "screwed" you.

There is no such thing as a ripoff if one possesses the necessary information...

I never trade in games to Gamestop anymore. I tried to once but for the price they offer, I'd rather just give it away to other gaming friends, or stick it in a box and never play it again.

I buy their used games all the time, and I'm quite happy when people trade in brand new games after one day, so I can save five to ten bucks.

i admit, its my fault. I should have thought it over, but I would think Gamestop, would have given me 40 for it for being a day old.

btw, seriously. it was six accounts. they allowed me to do it. and i took advantage of it. im not the only one to do it and i only won three times.

I don't know how often they do it, but keep an eye out for theit 25% off used coupons. I got Battlefield: Bad Company like 2-3 weeks after it had come out, bought it Used (it was 54.99) and with the 25% off coupon, it was only like $42.-- something. Brand freakin new too, I checked the back of the disc in store and what not, not a single scratch or anything. I'm hoping another one of those coupons pop-up soon so I can perhaps get GHWT and another game (probably Dead Space).

GAMESTOP IS THE WORST BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. Whew I feel better. It seems like they are all run by a bunch of STONERS. I went to pick up my pre-order GHWT game, the one that comes with the guitar only. They said oh sorry we are sold out we will give you your money back that you put down for the pre-order.

.

I never seen GameStop give more than 30 bucks for a game, even for games that where clearly smash hits. You where lucky to get 27 bucks for that piece of crap, and now they will re-sell it for 49.99 a 23 dollar profit....not bad.

Wow, that sucks. The employees at my local GameStop hold all pre-orders for at least 48 hours to make sure people get their game (and are normally the first ones to get it too). If you're not their within 2 days of release, THEN they sell it.

$49.99? When it's that recent, it'll be $54.99.

That being said, there are a lot of areas where buying used games to resell can result in taking losses, and a business tends to be rather risk-averse about that. When selling to a reseller, you sacrifice return for convenience, plain and simple.

I mean, heck, I feel kinda bad about only getting $0.32 for my used copy of MechAssault, but my Xbox doesn't work and the 360 won't play it... so I guess they gave me some spare change for, in my mind, a worthless hunk of plastic...

My gamestop gave me fallout 3 last night for free. Whether it was an accident, or because the manager is cool and my friend, i dont know. What i do know though, is that they have bought another 5 years of faithful videogame buying from that particular store only. (Ive been going to that particular store since i was roughly 15)

you guys shoulda seen how i got a 2nd rb1 set....

20% more on every turn in for it
20% more cuz i turned in more then 4 games
10% more cuz of some other reason, i ended up getting 45 dollars back on a 30 dollar game, you gotta learn how to work their system and take advantage of promotions

Activision screwed you, not Gamestop.

Correction: no one screwed him. I can sympathize with not getting much trade-in value, because it does suck, but that's not getting screwed, that's extremely common.

Hell, Final Fantasy (or other RPGs) should've taught everyone this lesson. Go to a shop, buy a sweet sword. Realize you bought the wrong sweet sword, sell it back immediately. You only get half your money back. Take this to heart, cause the real world works that way too!
