RB1 DLC on RB2?

Quick question.

Can I play Rock Band 1 DLC on Rock Band 2?

If so, do I need to have a Rock Band 1 disc to export it?

I bought a lot of RB1 DLC using my old roommate's RB1, now he's gone and I bought RB2.. I want my old songs back.

nope you don't need the rb1 disk to use DLC. DLC shuold work automatically and you only need it if you want to export the RB1 songs to your hard drive to use in rb2
