Queen is by far, one of the most mainstream bands, while being, one of the most underrated bands. Freddie Mercury, the charasmatic lead singer and frontman of the group, wrote some of the most reconizable songs of the last 50 years, in Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions, Somebody To Love, Play The Game, Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, etc. Joined by Brian May, easily THE most underrated and underapprichated guitarist ever. By building his own guitar, known as the Red Special, he is responsible for that unique Queen sound. Not only an increidble guitar player, and vocalist, a prolific songwriter. Writing We Will Rock You, I Want It All, Fat Bottom Girls, Tie Your Mother Down, Who Wants To Live Forever. The group only gets stronger by adding Roger Taylor, drummer, adding his unique voice and drum patterns, he was responsible for such songs as I'm In Love With My Car, Radio GaGa, A Kind of Magic, and much more. His high raspy falseto voice was a perfect way to piece to add w/ Brian May's low, soft, smooth voice, along w/ Freddie's power in all ranges voice. Togeather, they were able to produce almost an operatic and choir-like voice w/ their songs by multi-tracking vocal parts. A perfect expamle of this is during the 'Gallielo' section in Bohemian Rhapsody. They were one of the first pioneers and perfectors of this technique. Rounding out this already beautiful group is bassist John Deacon. An extremely strong bass player. While not a prolific song writter, he is responsible for some of Queen's most known hit songs, such as You're My Best Friend, I Want To break Free, Another One Bites The Dust, etc.
Although Freddie Mercury died in 1991, Queen still continued to produce music and tour all over the world. While John Deacon stopped touring, Brian and Roger inncorperated the help of Paul Rodgers, lead singer of bands such as Bad Company and Free, to tour under than name of Queen + Paul Rodgers.
Just a breif discription of IMO the greatest band in the world. Also one of the most prolific and influencive bands of all time.
