View Full Version : OMFG Why so hard with the guitar people?

Ok this is stupid

In GH3 I can get huge streaks on solos on any difficulty

On rock band I struggle to even PASS a hard solo

If I try to strum for every single note like I do in GH3... it just says I'm missing all of it

If I HOPO "The right way" the song STILL gets butchered and I barely pass

What I'm talking about is solos like Green grass and high tides and highway star.... any fast hopos for a long time in this game is like absolute YOU FAIL (or almost fail)

I find playing guitar more enjoyable in guitar hero because you don't ****ing destroy , butcher and kill the freaking songs by playing the sloppiest solos ever

When you play a hard solo in RB ... its like the original artist got really ****ed up on assorted illegal drugs and then tried to play it... its terrible -_-

I just want you guys (Harmonix , MTV , whoever else) to consider either making a patch to make the HOPOs more lenient ... or make RB2s guitar like GH3s

K :O

I feel the opposite of you. I don't want wide open "windows" to hit the ho/po notes. I'm a GH vet and I was pulling off amazing things I've never done before in GH3. I love the tighter windows.

Granted, they aren't as tight as GH1 which were unforgiving but it's in the area of guitar hero 2, but probably a little tighter.

Since they ramped up the difficulty in GH3 they had to open the timing window to hit the note.

But me liking this better is just my opinion.

The Hammer on and offs for GHIII are too easy, you don't even need to hit the next note at the right time, just some time before it passes the strum bar. That's the reason why GHIII's HOPO's are easy to do, they make no sense, but that's how their game works.

As far as the Guitar, that's just preference I guess, I much prefer the RB guitar (I can't stand the click, click, clicking of GH axe)

because of GH3, I felt like a crippled when I decided to play GH2 again. And from that moment on I swore I wouldn't play any GH3 until I get Rock Band, else I would look like a complete noob.

Pfft well on a real guitar if you played all of your notes half a second early they would still make the right sound.............

Im all against the "I like the game to be too hard!" crap

I don't care about the note window

I just want them to let me STRUM every note in a HOPO without it thinking I'm missing stuff........

When I try to HOPO with 1 strum for a whole row of notes it really ****s up my rythym and then I dont know when to do my 1 strum again

Oh hey I'll add that if you use the stratocaster... its like you up and lost a large % of your guitar hero skill

So if you get rock band but not guitar hero... your gonna have a really bad guitar to work with XD

But I like the strat many more times over than I like the Les Paul. I like it over every guitar I've played with. And yes, I have a PS3 so I'm in theory as of right now stuck with it for Rock Band and couldn't be happier.

Your opinion of the strat is just that, an opinion.

The timing tolerance in Rock Band is certainly tighter than GH3... but then GH3 for PS3 is notoriously hard to calibrate for with the wired controller, which makes for fairly sloppy playing as far as timing is concerned.

As for the RB Strat... it is a LOT easier to get 'lost' on the fretboard than any of the GH controllers.... the buttons are flush (instead of raised), so you can't really feel around with your fingers to get an accurate measure of whether you're at the right or left end of the buttons. It gets confusing if you are used to doing this with the GH controllers.... the buttons being farther down the neck are a slightly confounding factor.

Basically, even if the note patterns aren't challenging... getting as comfy with the strat as with the gibsons will be

I thought my guitar was broken at first, but it really is just the timing window being much smaller than GH3. You can't just noob your way through like in Guitar Hero, however if you do play the notes on time it will work properly.

Either go back to GH or suck it up and learn how to play RB.

While RB is challenging, some people may as well get a game that plays the notes for them so they can stop cryin'! Learn it, love it!

1) I assume you calibrated for lag, so that's probably not your problem.

2) Are you sure you are actually playing in rhythm? I know that the strum bar and fret buttons cause people to lose their place, because they are not used to them.

3) Maybe this is a hardware problem with the Strat. Can you try a friend's guitar, or use your Strat on another machine that doesn't have the same problem?

I have had no problems with the Strat so far.

For everyone complaining about GHIII"s window, isn't the "precision mode" cheat supposed to tighten it up? Why not try that?

I was having the same issue, but I ended up putting a piece of rough paper of the Yellow Fret and that helped me a lot.
