My reasoning is just on their insistence that nothing recorded after 1969 would be used. But as I stated above, they've already gone back on their word so who knows what they'll do now.
If we're just weighing in our opinions, I'd rather the 90's singles be left out. I like them fine, but they were written much later and they sound like it; I think they would clash with the other stuff.
Actually, they only said that they wouldn't go beyond the 1969 stuff for the on-disc. They didn't say anything about DLC at that time.

Sorry, I just meant on-disc. They could def be dlc.
And Harvey, A Day in the Life is an amazing song. But it's not a song casual fans know. That's partially because it doesn't have an anthemic chorus that shouts the song title-- but that supports my point.
If you're trying to sell full album dlc, you need "A Hard Days Night", or "Come Together", or "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" if you want casual fans to buy it. It means a whole new strategy when compiling a set list...

That's true. What is odd about Sgt Peppers is that it does actually lack that really 'anthemic' single or song; it doesn't have a I Want To Hold Your Hand or a Drive My Car or a Hey Jude. Probably the closest thing you have to a song of that stature is With A Little Help From My Friends, which is going to be on the disc.
Either way, I'm sure we will get it, I would just rather get it on 09/09/09 rather than hanging out for an indeterminate period for it.

Did anyone notice that we get All You Need Is Love downloadable the day of release? All I remember from E3 was them saying shortly after launch, but this new press release says
In addition, “All You Need Is Love” will be released Sept.9, 2009, exclusively through Xbox LIVE for a limited time as a downloadable song for The Beatles: Rock Band, with all Apple Corps Ltd, MTV Games, Harmonix and Microsoft proceeds benefitting Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

My average of correct song guesses dropped to 14/25.
I don't feel too bad because I made the list back in January before we were considering harmonies as a factor. I also only had two George songs on my list... what was I thinking?

They did... The thing to remember, however, is the 20 bonus song download was "shortly after launch" also, but it was two months before it was actually released... so don't expect "shortly" to be a week or two, it will be longer than you expect.

Nope, it was one of the big announcements made during the E3 presentation that All You Need Is Love would be available on launch day on 360. There was a huge s***storm on the forums about it being exclusive to the 360, but when it eventually emerged that it would be a timed-exclusive to the Xbox, things calmed down.
Here's the quote from the press release issued immediately after the E3 presentation:
It was also announced today that ―All You Need Is Love," will be released exclusively on Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft as a downloadable song for The Beatles: Rock Band through Xbox LIVE on September 9, 2009 with all Apple Corps Ltd, MTV Games and Microsoft proceeds benefitting Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières

My Remaining 5:
Dear Prudence (prediction: won't come out to play)
Ballad of John and Yoko (odds: it ain't easy)
If I Fell (prediction: I doubt it will be true)
Two of Us (prediction: Dig a Pony and I've Got a Feeling have probably squeezed it out*)
Happiness is a Warm Gun (odds: don't want to jump the gun but I'm hoping)
*What? They can't all be clever

Just when we've been talking about Yellow Submarine I read this
STUTTGART, Germany — Graphic designer Heinz Edelmann, best known for his work as art director of the 1968 Beatles film "Yellow Submarine," has died, his former employer said. He was 75.
Edelmann died Tuesday afternoon in a Stuttgart hospital, according to the city's State Academy of Art and Design, where he had worked as a professor until 1999. No cause of death was given.
Born in Aussig in the former Czechoslovakia in 1934, Edelmann studied at the Duesseldorf Art Academy and became a freelance graphic designer in 1958.
In addition to his work on "Yellow Submarine," Edelmann designed many book covers, including the first German edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings."
In 1989, he won a competition to design the mascot of Seville's Expo '92 world fair, beating 23 other entries with his illustration of a pudgy bird with a rainbow plume and conical beak named Curro.

Now the only songs remaining that I say HAVE TO be in the game are While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Rain, and She Said She Said. I might be a little disappointed if one of those doesn't make it, but it won't last long. All the other songs are amazing anyway! I think we will get at least two or three more songs from the White Album: WMGGW, Helter Skelter, and maybe Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey.
And now I shall present my updated wishlist. Confirmed songs in bold. Almost confirmed song in red.
1. Love Me Do
2. I Saw Her Standing There (One, two, three, FAH!)
3. Do You Want to Know a Secret (I originally had Please Please Me, but I'm still counting on Love Me Do, so that would already be four songs from Please Please Me)
4. Twist and Shout (This will be impossible to FC on vocals...)
5. She Loves You
6. I Want to Hold Your Hand
7. All My Loving
8. I Wanna Be Your Man
9. A Hard Day's Night
10. Can't Buy Me Love
11. I Feel Fine
12. I'm a Loser
13. Eight Days a Week
14. Help!
15. Ticket to Ride
16. Drive My Car (Beep beep, beep beep, YEAH!)
17. Nowhere Man
18. Day Tripper
19. Paperback Writer (Amazing bass)
20. Rain (The best B-Side EVER! Drums and bass would be AMAZING! I really hope they put this one in the game)
21. Taxman (One...two...three...four....one...two...ONE TWO THREE FOUR!)
22. Yellow Submarine (It might not be that fun on the instruments, but this has to be in there. Everybody knows it!)
23. She Said She Said (Some of Ringo's best drumming right here. I love the lyrics too)
24. And Your Bird Can Sing
25. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
26. With a Little Help From My Friends
27. Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows (Love Version)
28. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)/A Day in the Life (incredible drum rolls on A Day in the Life)
29. Magical Mystery Tour (The guitar is kinda hard to hear, but this is such a great song)
30. I Am the Walrus (Again, I can barely hear any guitar, but it's an awesome song that has to be in the game)
31. Hello Goodbye (A hit as big as this has to be in there)
32. Strawberry Fields Forever (More awesome drumming)
33. Hey Jude (This song MUST be in the game)
34. Revolution
35. Back In the U.S.S.R.
36. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
37. Birthday
38. Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey
39. Helter Skelter
40. Hey Bulldog
41. Octopus's Garden
42. Here Comes the Sun
43. Dig a Pony
44. I've Got a Feeling
45. Get Back
There may be one more song from Abbey Road on the disc since most of the albums have at least two or three songs on there. I think it's Come Together since a George Harrison song is already on there with Here Comes the Sun. I also have a feeling we might not get She Said She Said and get Got to Get You Into My Life because they need a Paul song from Revolver, And You're Bird Can Sing is a John song, and that's the song Paul played when he showed game footage for the first time. RIP In My Life and You Won't See Me :( Rubber Soul better be the next DLC album if there are only two songs from it on the disc. They haven't even announced any songs from the album!

Yeah I thought about that, but Sgt. Pepper (Reprise) is really short. They might just have A Day in the Life by itself and save the reprise for DLC.

OMG that's so awesome. It just bothers me that everyone always says "the B-side." The medley doesn't take up the whole B-side! It starts with Here Comes the Sun, then Because, and then it's the Medley. But w/e, I guess saying B-side is more common knowledge than saying The Medley.

One of the new songs that we played was “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band/With a Little Help From My Friends.” Yes, that’s right: it’s a medley of the two tracks. Harmonix said you can’t sing them separately, which I think is a misstep: I can see a lot of people wanting to sing “With A Little Help,” which is a mellow, laid-back song, without first having to scream their way through the ungodly high parts of “Sgt. Pepper.”

Yeah, I disagree with that quote. I wanted those two songs to be back-to-back since the beginning. Only singing will seem weird for the reasons he mentioned. But playing any of the instruments will be fine. I wonder if a microphone will just pop out of the ground or something next to the drums for Ringo during the transition...

Funnily enough, I'm just starting to think that it will. The inclusion of Yellow Submarine and Sgt Pepper imagery makes me think there has to be a second one in the trippy Yellow Submarine film style. LitSwD would certainly qualify.

Well Sgt. Pepper and With a Little Help are being counted as two separate songs. I don't think any part of the medley is going to be on disc because of Abbey Road being released as DLC. And I'm hoping they release Long Tall Sally as DLC in a 4-pack with the other three songs on the Long Tall Sally EP. Otherwise, it's a pretty good list despite the lack of While My Guitar Gently Weeps...And I'd be happy with No Reply or I'm a Loser. I don't think both will be on disc, so either one is fine by me.

I guess cos they are two distinct songs that take up two tracks on the Sgt. Pepper album. WYWY/TNK(L) is one track on the Love album and the two songs are remixed together. It's not one after another like the former pairing of songs. So I guess when they have the songs listed for Abbey Road in the store, each song in the medley will have an asterisk next to it. And when you want to play the medley, you can probably search by any of the songs or by the letter M and it'll say "The Medley" and have all the songs listed in order underneath it.

I love the LTS EP, so I wanted to through that into the list.
And I'd like The End because it has great drum and guitar solos, as well as being the perfect finisher to the Beatle's career. The Abbey Road DLC announcement makes it less likely, but it's still one of my top songs for the game.

2. I Saw Her Standing There (One, two, three, FAH!)

4. Twist and Shout (This will be impossible to FC on vocals...)

21. Taxman (One...two...three...four....one...two...ONE TWO THREE FOUR!)
22. Yellow Submarine (It might not be that fun on the instruments, but this has to be in there. Everybody knows it!)
23. She Said She Said (Some of Ringo's best drumming right here. I love the lyrics too)
24. And Your Bird Can Sing
25. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
26. With a Little Help From My Friends
27. Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows (Love Version)

34. Revolution

Those two songs will be played as one. In the game, you will play With A Little Help From My Friends right after Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band every time. BUT the two songs are counted separately in accordance to the 45 songs in the game. This makes 25/45 songs announced, not 24/45.

2. I'm a Loser (what can I say, I just dislike it. I think the lyrics are some of their worst).
3. Nowhere Man (very slow-tempo compared the hmx's choices so far)

Great news re: the Abbey Road Medley. Another thing to stop getting in agony about.
The ending cinematic sounds like it will be unbelievable. Hopefully it isn't all just PR, but to claim that is going to be as good as the opening cinematic is a huge call. A potted history of the post-break up Beatles may be on the cards, or it may be a tribute to John and George in particular. Maybe it will show the band breaking up, who knows? That is one reason I'm keen to jump straight into the story mode.
I went to bed last night and just before I fell asleep I had a flash of inspiration. Guess which left field song choice has a very minor musical cameo in the opening trailer? That's right, Within You Without You (the tambura is mixed in very briefly under Here Comes The Sun, when the boys are going up the cosmic elevator). Twist And Shout has a small part at the start; it is also in the game. I'm now serenely and calmly confident that A Day In The Life will be in the game, on account of the orchestra from that song ending the opening cinematic.

Well I chose Love Me Do because it's the first song they ever recorded in a studio and their first #1 in America. It'd be a great song to start with.
I thought about From Me to You, but I'm not too sure about that one. It's similar to Love Me Do in terms of guitar and bass and the harmonica, but they may pick From Me to You because the drums are a lot better. The harmony on Love Me Do would be better, though.
Lady Madonna doesn't have enough guitar...but the bass is amazing so idk.
I love the lyrics on I'm A Loser! But the game can have No Reply instead. I love both songs.
Many people want In My Life (including me at first), and that's an even slower tempo than Nowhere Man and it has a piano solo. Nowhere Man at least has a guitar solo.
Magical Mystery Tour has great bass and powerful drums. And if anything, it should be in the game just so it can have an amazing dreamscape with it. Plus, the harmonies would be so much fun.
And you dismiss Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey while you suggest Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da...that's very strange to me...Monkey would be so much more fun on bass and especially guitar. Drums would be fun on both. And with OLDOLD, there would be too many Paul songs on The White Album(U.S.S.R., he sings most of Birthday, and hopefully Helter Skelter is in the game).
And Happiness is a Warm Gun was the very last song I omitted. It was 46/45. It's one of my favorite Beatles songs. I would LOVE to have it in the game, I just highly doubt it will appear on the disc :(

Love Me Do was their first song to hit the British charts, at #17. It wasn't released in America originally, but hit #1 when it was, two years later. "Please Please Me" was their first American single, "From Me to You" was their first #1 (Britain), and "She Loves You" was their first American #1.
I like No Reply better, but if we want a moody, early deep cut, how about "I'm Down"? The energy is amazing and they played it a ton live, to close their set lists.
I don't know how much weight they're giving to songs per album, but that's my concern with MMT; we've got I Am the Walrus, and I'm hoping for Strawberry Fields and Hello, Goodbye. I'm betting against a fourth, but I'd prefer Penny Lane to balance SFF (and great bass).
Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da is much, much more popular than "Monkey". It would also be a complete smash with a roomful of people. You make a good point about too much Macca, though. I think Paul just wrote better rockers on that album, but hmx may want to represent them more equally.

What does popularity have to do with anything? Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da is just not a rocker, while Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey is. That is what matters. Ob-la-di is "Paul's granny ****" as Lennon put it.

I (and I know I wasn't alone) was hoping that they would explore more of the complexities of the Beatles sound than just 'rock', although the set list so far has stayed pretty guitar-driven and up-tempo.
As far as the 'grandmotherly crap' argument, it's a valid part of their sound. It's in "A Day in the Life", it's in the AR medley. Harmonix aren't catering to just John's whims (thank goodness, or we wouldn't have "And Your Bird Can Sing" on disc). Obladi may be a little cloying, but not nearly so bad as others we could mention, and the Jamaican influence makes it really unique.

Well this is what Paul said in 1984: "'Love Me Do' ...the first song we recorded, like, for real. First serious audition."

They seem to be placing importance on collaboration--a lot of 50/50 Lennon-McCartney songs, all four vocalists. This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Beatles_songs) is a good page for breaking down writing credits (who actually wrote it) and vocalists.

Not that it's much of a big deal or anything, but the price of the Remastered Stereo box set on Amazon dropped a whole 3 dollars lol. It's now $205. I fully expect it to go below $200 before shipping, maybe somewhere in the $190 range. Hopefully the mono set drops another 10-15 dollars too but considering the limited edition status that has maybe it will stay the same.
EDIT: Funny side note on Amazon sales rankings; 3 of TB:RB stand alone guitars (the 2 Wii guitars and the 360 Gretch) are ranked higher than every version/bundle of Guitar Hero 5.
hey everybody, just got back from seeing Paul at citi field, it was awesome. Got to play the game, also awesome, Back in the USSR was really fun and surprisingly challenging on expert guitar. Also the footage everyone has seen of the game that Paul plays during Got To Get You Into My Life appeared to sink up to the song so i think its definitely in the game, the dreamscape was cool, lots of fireworks.

Here's some of the stuff that has come out in the last few days:
- We just got a big announcement with 15 more songs (check the announcement in the Announcement thread, or just about any gaming website).
- Sgt Peppers/ With A Little Help From My Friends (both just announced) will only be playable as one song in-game.
-The Abbey Road Medley, when it arrives as DLC, will also be playable as one track.
- All non-touring era DLC will have unique dreamscapes.
I think that covers most of the big news. Besides that, the impenetrable fortress that is HMX has not leaked anything besides that. Never fear, though, because I feel that the information will come at a much more steady rate between now and 09/09/09.

That would be a cool one. As we have seen, though, dreamscapes may take their inspiration from, but won't be directly modeled on, the promo videos that accompanied them (e.g. I Am The Walrus and Revolution).

Some info on online play.
http://rockbandaide.com/the-beatles-rock-band-preview/
One of you asked about Online play, and word from HMX is that all the online modes you know and love (Quickplay, Tug of War, Score Duel) are back in The Beatles: Rock Band. You’ll even be able to play with six players online, as long as all the singers are on the same console. This is mainly a technical issue due to the fact that voice takes up quite a bit of Internet bandwidth. Basically, it’s the same reason why you don’t hear your bandmates singing when you play Rock Band or Rock Band 2 online. Rumor has it that you’ll even be able to play Story mode online, but I can’t give you any details on this new mode just quite yet.
Also, I was the one who told him to ask about it. :D

Just got back from watching Let it Be for the second time in two weeks, and I just gotta say that Don't Let Me Down and One After 909 are essential to complete the rooftop set. All of Abbey Road will be coming as DLC (besides Here Comes The Sun and Octopus' Garden, which will be on-disc). There was a fair bit of conjecture about how the second side of the album would be treated, given that it is an unofficial medley. All the other tracks on the album (Come Together, Something etc.) will be individual tracks in-game.

Besides the fact we know that Abbey Road (and All You Need Is Love) is coming as DLC, we really know nothing about how the system is going to work. There's a rumoured 300 songs licensed for this game, so they may choose to cut it up into small weekly releases, slightly bigger fortnightly releases, or maybe even a monthly album/big pack. No matter how you cut it, though, I can't see the release cycle for TB:RB being much longer than a year.
I'm almost willing to delay the next round of song announcements by a week or two to find out info about the DLC, the Story mode etc.

As I said there is nothing confirmed as yet. All we have to work on is that there is a rumoured 300 songs licensed and that Abbey Road, All You Need Is Love and "additional music from The Beatles' catalogue" (from the E3 press release) is to made available for download.
My gut instinct is that we will end up with a Beatles discography (or close enough to it), but obviously until someone from HMX confirms it is all conjecture and rumour.

Hmmm, that is an interesting one. It sounds to me like it's Play doing it off their own bat rather than anything official. It seems like it is just a way to get rid of excess stock while offering a more moderately priced bundle option. It's a good, what, 70 quid cheaper than the Beatles LE bundle? But there are some pretty obvious downsides to taking up that deal (the problems with the RB1-era equipment, not getting the Beatles instruments, no mic stand etc.)

Yeah that's what I figured was more likely. For folk on a budget or just buying RB for the first time it is a viable opton. But as you said, the hardware issues would be the main put off. Although my RB1 era stuff is still going (well the drum kit isn't, but that was my fault), the tilt on my guitar is bust and the mic has got a bit dodgy.

Okay, have you noticed that there's been one song per vocalist per album? The only exception is when the lead is shared, as in "I've Got a Feeling". The three songs from Please Please Me are split between John, Paul and George, and Sgt. Pepper's has one Paul, one Ringo, and one George. Etc.
If this is more than a trend, this is a pretty comprehensive list of what we may get:
Help! OR Ticket to Ride
The Night Before OR I've Just Seen a Face
I Need You
A Hard Day's Night
I'm Happy Just to Dance with You
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
A Day in the Life (probably not both)
Magical Mystery Tour OR Hello, Goodbye
Got to Get You into My Life
Drive My Car OR I'm Looking Trough You
Nowhere Man OR The Word
Think For Yourself OR If I Needed Someone
What Goes On OR Don't Pass Me By (if we're getting more Ringo)
Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey
Happiness is a Warm Gun
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Helter Skelter OR Obladi Oblada (probably the former)
All My Loving
Don't Bother Me OR Roll Over Beethoven
It Won't Be Long
Come Together
I Me Mine
Hey Bulldog
The next question is, should the non-album singles be compared the same way, according to their Past Masters albums? I think they'll be generous, since there are no Ringo tracks and the George tracks aren't suited to RB:
She Loves You
From Me to You
Rain OR Ballad of John and Yoko
Hey Jude OR Lady Madonna
I know this leaves a lot of wiggle room, but it does rule out some surprising songs:
She Said She Said (boo!)
Something
Strawberry Fields Forever (though I hope the rule doesn't apply to MMT, since it wasn't intended as an album)
Please Please Me
I'm a Loser
If I Fell
And I Love Her
Hold Me Tight

I haven't gotten in to the "which songs will be on the disc" debate much because honestly, I don't care. I'm going to buy EVERYTHING they release for this game regardless, so they could stick whatever they want on there. Obviously it's going to be 45 great songs no matter what they choose, so whatever the last 20 are, I'm good with it. But yes I'd imagine the last 20 will probably be many of the songs you've listed there.

I don't know if HMX and co. would go through the trouble of whipping up a new demo just to add songs to it. It's not like it's a downloadable demo that everyone has access to, just a select few, so those few won't care that only the first batch of songs are playable.

The interview in the preorder club with Giles Martin and Alex indicate they tried to be fair to all of the Beatles on the disc. Probably harder to do with Ringo, but we can probably expect another one or two Ringo songs (hopefully not Goodnight or Don't Pass Me By). Exactly. You would *think* that the first post on the page, which has over 4,600 replies and 239,000 views would be a good place to start for a new visitors. You've done a great job on the thread though, the effort is excellent.

I think being fair to Ringo would be putting Rain on the disc since that's one of, if not his best drumming in The Beatles.
Exactly. It's silly to make lead vocals the only factor in who's contributing to a song.

Are you still definitely not buying? Come on now, you've got to be getting closer to that ledge..... I love The Beatles, but I also love the variety of Rock Band. I would rather buy more songs for RB than spend the money on one band… even if I just got the game $60 I would have to buy two mics and at least one mic stand to really enjoy the game to its fullest potential… So, $60 + $50 for two mics + 25 for one mic stand… $135… I would rather get 67 more songs that I like for RB2.
Now, if Alesia was not laid off from work and we had the disposable income I might have thrown $135 down and not even thought about it… So, yeah, its still the export thing. The game is beautiful and of course the songs are great… I just don’t see me picking it up except as a rental one weekend this fall. If I fall in love with it after playing it I will buy it, but one band, even The Beatles, is not a game I believe I will spend money on.

Give it 6 months to a year and you can buy the game used for cheaper. Maybe by then your wife will be working again and you'll have picked up another mic and a stand.
It's embarassing, but I use a camera tripod for a mic stand. I wedge the mic in between the tripod and the piece the camera would rest on. If you have a tripod you could at least voxtar. There's always a way.

If you use Firefox, you can use Download Helper to get it from the TB:RB site. If you use Safari, open the Activity window from the "Window" menu, and double-click on the video file.

Noo, I wouldnt get that its a RB1 Gtr and those models are a piece of crap.... you can go into your nearest Gamestop and probably get a RB2 or a GHWT guitar for $30 - $40. Those are built better and wont break on you as easy.

Yeah, definitely don't get the RB1 Strat. They are pretty horrible. My personal favourite is the GH3 LP, and I'm sure there are still plenty of those around (and they will be cheap to boot). I wouldn't recommend the GHWT guitar from personal experience, though; very crappy strum-bar (mine broke inside a week) and I just don't like the feel of it overall. It felt kind of like a chunkier RB1 guitar.
If you are wanting an RB guitar, I am told that the RB2 Strat (the one with the sunburst pattern) is a vast improvement over the first version. A lot of the problems with the first version (loud fret buttons, mushy strum bar etc.) were fixed in the second.

That's true. Besides the ability to toggle sound effects in RB, there really isn't any advantage to having an RB guitar (the solo buttons are only slightly more useful than the ridiculous slider thing on the GHWT guitar). In all honesty, if you are looking for a cheap, reliable guitar, I would look around for a GH3 LP. After more than 18 months of solid use, mine is still in remarkably good shape (the odd dropped sustained note aside).

Is the RB2's strum bar on the guitar still very silent? Or is there some sort of click on it, like the GH one's?

Isn't the sunburst and non-sunburst RB2 guitars the same other than the look. I have a non-sunburst that came with the game. I thought they where the same. I just had my GH:WT strum bar crap out, won't strum down and that's after 2 weeks!

So it's back to amazon ?
At least they have guaranteed next day delivery.
I dunno where you'd end up in the que with regards to amazon. But from past experience (with RB1) if you order from them and choose next day guaranteed they will get it to you for release day. My brother ordered from them as well but just chose 1st class and even though he ordered before me, I got mine and he didnt.

Yeah it was def my understanding that all RB2 guitars are the same apart from the colours. The stand alone was sunburst and the bundle wasn't.

Well, prolly not so much as you'd think. As for TB:RB controllers, if the progression stays the same, these guitars should be remarkable improvements over the RB2 controllers. I have two of the RB2 controllers, the sunburst and a plain one, and they BOTH have the infuriating 'mind of their own overdrive issue'! I sometimes want to throw it across the room.
I have 3 of the RB guitars and they span the various generations...they are all flimsy and they generally suck. I replaced the strum mechs on two of them with one I found on the net(guy from Montana I think it was) and they work nicely with my foot pedal overdriver but, they feel like they are gonna fall apart.
TB:RB guitars are $100 a pop but I have faith they will be worth it. Besides, you have almost two months, drop $40 on one and then pay $10 a payday on it...shouldn't leave much to pay on the day the game comes out.

You can get a refurb RB2/GHWT guitar for even less than that. Look online, you'll find stores that carry them. I picked up two brand new GH:WT microphones from eBay this week that I paid less than $15 for in TOTAL.
Just go and look. Keep your eyes open. But no reason to buy at a retail store if you're wondering about cost.

I have one of each, and mine are most definitely different in a small but significant number of areas. The buttons on the sunburst are much clickier, and the strumbar doesn't have the same click as a GH guitar, but it definitely is less mushy than the RB2 one.
So yes, there is a difference. And just like with actual guitars, they'll all work better in different situations and with different hands.

I'm anxious to hear some actual reviews of the Beatles instruments themselves. Most of the opportunities for the public to play the game so far has been with standard instruments, and all of these people have pre-ordered some rather expensive equipment...
I'm sure hmx will do a good job, but every time there's a radical re-design, there's always a certain risk involved.

Right. For example, eBay has a brand new, unopened RB2 Wii Bundle (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250468448097) for sale for a lot cheaper than a store. Heck, it even has free shipping and no sales tax so it's an even better deal.
PS: Pay no attention to the fact that the username of the eBay seller of the linked item closely resembles mine. Coincidence. *kaff*

Sir George hasn't produced in years now because his hearing is completely shot. Besides, the guy is 83 years old, let's let him retire peacefully.

I need some help. My brother loves The Beatles, but he doesn't want to play Rock Band. I think he will though, no one can withstand the harmony trainer. But I want to get him to pay his share of the game.
When I told him about the harmonies in Paperback Writer, I was very enthusiastically saying "...and the lead sings 'I can make it longer if you like the style...' and the harmonies can do 'Heee-reeee-seeeaq-yaaaa'!! Wouldn't it be awesome to sing that?"
And he says 'So it's just like the original song?' and continues eating his cereal.
How can I convince him that this isn't a game trying to mimic The Beatles' wonderful music with plastic guitars, but more an experience which goes beyond singing and tapping your feet along?

George's guitar work in that song is fantastic. It would be a blast to play in the game.
But of course, you'd probably be happier playing guitar in Hey Jude, where the pianist gets all the spotlight.

But I think that they viewed the song as both a piece of personal nostalgia and a bit of a gag song.

I don't like the chatter on the original, and Maggie Mae and Dig It are disposable so I like those omissions ... except for the chatter on Get Back, and I prefer the Spectorized Long and Winding Road.
So I listen to both. One of these days I need to make my own "Get Back" album.
