Wal-Mart isn't full of too many bright people, what else do you expect?

Yes, this is very true. Makes me feel sorry for Mr. Bright after all his hard work.

Well to be fair with the drum issues they are having right now you'd be better off with a Rock Band 2 drumkit.

FWIW I went to Walmart today to pick up the AC/DC game and they had a picture next to the bundles saying there was a mistake in the ad, and showed the correct picture of the GHWT drum kit. Also, FWIW, they were all sold out of GHWT drum kits. Heh...

Wal-Mart approves of the RB2 drums over the GH:WT ones.

I heard there was a recall for the GHWT drums, so maybe they weren't out of stock, but were actually sent back.

Did anybody else see this in their local Wally World ad?

http://i35.tinypic.com/16gj47n.jpg

At least they were smart enough to make RB2 the main advertisement on the page, but seriously, look at how fludged up the GH stuff is at the bottom.

Sorry for the low quality image, but here's a rundown.

BOTTOM MIDDLE:

Ad for Guitar Hero: World Tour full band game! Included is the Guitar Hero LP with a touch strip, a Guitar Hero Box which says "Complete Guitar Game" (instead of "Complete Band Game") and, best of all, a ROCK BAND 2 DRUM KIT!!!

BOTTOM RIGHT:

Ad for Guitar Hero: World Tour Dual Guitar Game! Included is the new Guitar Hero: WT Les Paul, as well as the GHIII LP, and a Guitar Hero Box which says "Complete Band Game..."

Apparently a Complete Band doesn't include a drummer!

Mods: move this if necessary :p

It says "Complete Dual Guitar Game" on the listing for it... if the box (which I can't read) says otherwise, that would be the fault of Activision's packaging, not Wal-Mart.

awesome a whole family for almost $900

Is that really a GH3 Les Paul included with the GH:WT Complete Guitar game? That's hilarious. Guess they had to try and move those units somehow, huh?

Yeah when I went to pick up AC/DC they had fliers posted everywhere correcting the ad.

There IS a box containing the World Tour disk, the new guitar, and the GH guitar. It was retailing for either $109 or $149 (I honestly don't remember) at the Red Deer South Wal-Mart. They did NOT have the full box. I only noted this because 1) I had just purchased the game disk at EB, and 2) my husband needs a new Les Paul.

I purchased my Sunburst yesterday, also at Red Deer South Wal-Mart, for $79.89.

Note that all funds are in Canadian dollars. ;)

The RB kit on the GH advertisement made me laugh when I saw it. Some dumbass graphic designer for Wal-Mart (and/or their publishing house) mixed and matched photos.

I thought it to be a plus, however. A common gripe between RB and GH drums are RB's lack of cymbals... Now the world believes the drums are one in the same. Win for RB!

I love how one of GH:WT's biggest 'attractions' was supposed to be their new drum set, but I've now seen on a couple of different advertisements retail places showing pictures of the Rock Band drum set instead of the GH one.

Not that I thnk the GH one is better than RB's, but I just find it ironic that the one thing they were trynig to set apart most from RB seems to be getting lost, lol.

Yes... But if you look at the TV, you will see that there is a four player band rawkin' out and I only count one visible geetar in the photo. So...

It also lists AC/DC as an "expansion," even though it is a standalone game.

Interesting note, the Wal-Mart release of GHIII: Legends of Rock bundle included not the Les Paul guitar but I believe either the Xplorer or Kramer guitar to keep costs down.

It's amazing how there actually exist "Wal-Mart versions" of some products that are almost but not quite the same as those you would get in other stores.

That is no Les Paul.

This has to be the worst ad for both games ever.

Also... GH claims to have a "Complete Band Game" for $189.99, yet they only include one guitar.

Thats not even good enough to play the complete game without giving them more money :p

Retailers have been doing that for years. My Super Nintendo was a Target Special Edition that came with two controllers and Kirby Super Star.

As far as retailer practices dealing with Guitar Hero 1 to now and related to products in GH or RB lineage, WalMart is the only example I know of of "underhanded" practices like I mentioned.
