My PS3 doesn't read discs anymore.
I have to send it back.
When my new one arrives, I'll log back on my PSN account to redownload my DLC.
It should work, right?

But what happens when Sony destroys my original PS3? Will my PSN account dissapear or it's safe and sound on the Internet?

That's exactly how it'll work. Just log back into your account and you should have everything sound.

The same thing happened to my PS3 as well. I did back up my data though but I'm not sure if my new PS3 will read it. Does that mean I have to play through everything again that isn't DLC?

We had to send ours in as well. You can back up all the data, but none of the rockband save data will restore to a different machine, only the original PS3 that you backed up from. You will have to re-download everything (not re-purchase, just re-download) and start your game over from scratch.

And that is what I find unacceptable in this time. We have been teaching our kids and friends to backup there data for 20+ years and now they can't backup simply game progress. Sony or EA need to make a utility that allows the backup and restoring of protected game saves.

Like I've said before I see not reason a utility can't be made to save to and restore from an encrypted file on and ext store (Memory Stick, SD card, USB flash or what ever). Require the account that is being restored to of from to be login into a PSN account and only restore to the same account that created the backup.

Couldn't agree more. It is shameful that us PS3 users are stuck with gimped game saves. Quite honestly it makes me not want to play the game because I may have to have my ps3 fixed at some point and all my progress will be for not. Like you said, they could EASILY fix this and just make it so you have to restore it using the same PSN account.

Btw...the 360 does allow you to copy the rock band save to any other hard drive or memory unit. C'mon Harmonix.....this is a real negative you need to fix.

does DLC get backed up?

also, would the exported RB1 tracks be backed up?

my PS3 died, and I sold my RB1 disc already, as RB2 is all I needed. if I do a backup, will all my RB1 tracks be backed up, and can I restore them on my new PS3 when I get it?
