I feel like I've read that Harmonix said all DL songs will be compatible with future versions of Rock Band. Can anyone confirm this or give me a link? Thanks!;)

Yeah that's a question I was wondering myself.

I can't say that I've read that, though that doesn't mean it hasn't been said. I do find it interesting that the game has only been out for a few days and people are already asking questions about the second version.
If I had to go with my gut feeling, I'd say yes. This is because they're looking at Rock Band as being more of a "platform" than a game. To me, content on one platform should carry over to a new version of that same platform. To me, that would hold true from a licensing standpoint as well. So long as the content is licensed to the "Rock Band Platform," all content should work on "upgraded" versions of the software (ie. Rock Band 2).
This is unlike Guitar Hero 2 and 3, which are marketed as individual games. I doubt that we'll see any of that content roll over.
Then again I could be way off the mark, who knows. :p

Okay then I'm on a quest to find that quote. I KNOW I read it recently. Perhaps OXM at Borders? I just need to know that if I'm going to drop the cash I've been doing on the DLC, that it'd be nice to continue playing those songs when BWT goes online with the next game.

Thats because some features like BWT Online which I think many of us assumed would be there has already been mentioned it most likely will be in the next game. I feel totally screwed on this game already. I feel like I've been robbed of my $170.
