Off that list, RB: Linkin Park and RB: Journey would be instant buys for me. RB: Metallica would be awesome though, even though it will never happen. :( Or how about RB: Tears for Fears?

I don't really want to see another standalone retail product based on a particular band. It goes against everything they've been doing the past year with DLC and having so many artists to choose from in the one game. As if most people here aren't just exporting the AC/DC collection onto their hard drives to play them in RB1/RB2 anyway.

If they both keep up the way they're going we'll have either a Rock Band or Guitar Hero game for every reaonsably well known band on the planet, and I don't know about you, but that's not exactly what I had in mind.

True, but who doesnt want to see a massive pack of songs for their favorite band?

I would suspect the majority prefer songs from a variety of artists.

All these games based on individual bands is just compromising the experience for the sake of money. Why just release DLC for bigger bands like AC/DC, Metallica or Aerosmith when you can spit out a disk and milk it for all it's worth?

There was nothing wrong with setting Rock Band as the platform and then releasing a band's music as DLC. It integrated just nicely into the platform and became playable alongside all your other favourite stuff. It was akin to buying what you like the most from any number of different artists and then just chucking it all on your ipod. It worked.

Unfortunately, they're starting to lose their way.

Your kidding, right?

Im pretty sure most people here, if given the chance, would jump on a giant pack from they're favorite band.

Unfortunately, they're starting to lose their way.

I disagree. Harmonix is doing what they have to do to get the bands we want. Theyre doing things the way you want for the most part, but occassionally they just have to do things differently to get certain bands/music that they/we want.

Rest assured, they're counting on it mate. Greed is good, so it would seem. I just hate how the quality of the experience takes a dive.

That's the part that's all about money, as I was referring to. Everyone wants a bite.

I don't need a RB CD collection, that is why consoles come with hard drives and external storage. You have the goose laying golden eggs every week with DLC, why would you want to screw that up?

My vote is for RB: Pink Floyd assuming they put in all the visuals from all of their songs like they do in concerts

Pink Floyd deserves a game and this would be a perfect one

Absolutely none, hell I wont be touching Beatles if it's not goin' to be able to be played in the RB franchise. They made a stupid deal if this is in fact true. They lost a lot of customers who buy things because HMX lets them play it in their main game. Plus it makes you think, what other artists are they going to sign to a game and leave us screwed. Sorry, this is a total Activision move, no one cares about GH:Metallica or GH:Areosmith. Smart thing would have been to make a better game that is just like the AC/DC game, sure don't brand it RBand. But give us an option, cause otherwise, don't care about any of these one bit.

Although I disagree with what you say, I shall defend your right to say it. Now, I don't see how HMX is going to lose THAT many customers, in fact, i could see them gaining more customers because the Beatles are so popular. Also, add in that there may be another new instrument or two and people will buy it.

Think of it like this: how many people on this forum have more than 2 guitars just because a new one has come out? People talk about it all the time. You don't think that if they do come out with a keyboard, people wouldn't be excited for that? I think they would, maybe just because its a keyboard and its something different.

Its kind of absurd for people to think that HMX should ALWAYS put out every music game they back compatible to rock band or rock band 2 - because in the end, HMX is a business and the only way you can generate profit is to have more than one product out there.

I think this game will be a HUGE hit, especially with an older crowd (seems like it may be their target) and to not buy the game based solely on the means of no exporting is stupid.

Also, this game will be better than GH:A or GH:M because they are adding new instruments (possibly) and it's a more popular band.

RB: KISS

When I saw the cannons going off (triggered by drum hits) at the end of AC/DC's "For Those About to Rock" it was so awesome, and my friends & I immediately started discussing how incredible it would be to have a full RB KISS game featuring all their classic songs complete with their trademarked over the top all-out pyro filled stage show....the world would be a more fun place if this ever happens.

None. I am disappointed that it's not an addition to Rock Band. If I have to buy a disc and then import it like ACDC fine, I'm ok with that. But Rock Band is my main game and if it's not adding to that then I may not buy it.

I'm hoping for no more stand-alone games really. I understand why they did it for AC/DC (they had no choice), and The Beatles probably deserve it. However, all these standalone games are setting up a bad precedent. Now every band with an ego is going to demand their own game or they won't give their masters up. As long as there's always an export option it's not as bad, but pricing is always an issue for these things. I prefer discounted DLC packs.

Newsman
11-04-2008, 02:17 PM
Unfortunately, they're starting to lose their way.

I definitely disagree with this one. AC/DC is the only project Rock Band related (Beatles technically aren't related to RB) to do a disc. The only real reason for it is that AC/DC doesnt believe in single song releases. So the only way that HMX could get them is to do something that would put all the songs up at once, without enabling people to pick and choose.

So while yeah, this is different its only different because its the only way

Serious question... I thought we already had most of Boston's good music? Is there enough good Boston music left to justify RB: Boston or even another big Boston pack? I was under the impression people didnt have too high an opinion of Boston's later work (I havent listened to most of it).
