View Full Version : XBL Mic not working on Drums or Guitar....

I'm using the little connector to connect my headset to the ports in both the drum and the guitar and it wont work. Is there a certain option I need to turn on or a specific button to press? Are the ports on my guitar and drums faulty? Is the connector bad (ive tried both of the included ones)? HELP

EDIT: I've been testing whether or not it is working by recording a voice message. This works when plugged into a regular controller so I know the headset works.

Good question, my friends and I have the same problem. WHenever they plug a headset into the drums or the rock band guitar, it sounds horrible with static and tons of echo. If they plug it into the old GH2 guitar, it works fine - most of the time. Sometimes we still lose voice during parts of a song.

Same issue with here with the guitar, haven't tested it with the drumset. I tried both headset connectors with the guitar and none of my friends could hear me. I ended up switching to the GH3 Les Paul, and just plugging the headset in there I could be heard fine. Is it a defective guitar? I haven't had any downstrumming issues and I really like the RB Fender much more but if I can't communicate online it's a hassle.

Yeah, i'm having the same problem. Here's what I posted in the other thread that's on the regular Rock Band forums:

Yeah, i'm having problems getting it to work, as well.

I have tried jamming the female end into the Xbox male end as hard as possible but that doesn't seem to work. Also, i've twisted it around (the plug it self that touches the Xbox live headset) and there is a point where I can actually hear them on the headset but i'm still unable to talk to anyone.

Has anyone found a temporary fix for this?

My mic will work when I play online band quickplay by myself. However, if my wife and I play together with someone else online, then the mic doesn't work anymore. I won't be able to hear or speak to anyone. Maybe this is all related?

I have the same problem. I've tried using 3 different headsets for this and none of them worked. I just now tried a wireless one and it actually did work...but the voice of my friends were coming through my speakers and my headset. I went to my settings and found that they were set to go through my headset only...?

Any comment on this would be nice...

It'd be nice to get a response to this, it looks either the headset port on all the guitars or the adaptor doesn't work. Can anyone actually confirm if they have used the RB guitar + headset adaptor + microphone and actually had people hear them? I'm wondering if any of them work at all at this point. I really don't want to have to spend 60$ on a wireless headset

Mine wasn't working the first time I tried, but I kept fiddling with the connection between the headset and the adapter cord... remove, twist, push, pull, etc.... testing each time by recording voice for a message and then playing it back. It took a while, and several times it'd kick in but then out, but it did end up working. It's not really about "jamming" it together too hard or something, just unplug and replug it and... well, just fiddle with it.

I'll try it again, I suppose.

It's unfortunate that i'll have to "fiddle" with it everytime I want to play Drums online.

So, is this the problem of the adapter and if it is, should I invoke the power of the warranty?

with my drums I have tried using the included connector with and without that useless holder thing and I did work when trying to send a friend a message and I couldnt hear his message. I know there was voice on his message b/c it played throught the tv when I unplugged the headset. I havent tried it with the guitar yet b/c my new one still hasnt arrived even though it was sent 6 days ago and I think it is 2 day shipping like with the empty box.
