I don't think this has been discussed yet. Why should I play online if I can't even contact the other band members?

What do you mean?

I talk to the other band members online every time I play.
I haven't tested it yet, but do you have a guest signed on with you? I heard some mention that a guest signed on breaks all online communications.

I can't speak to them. I'm playing Rock Band on PS3, and it's just not fun playing with other people online. Actually, it's kind-of a letdown when I'm paired up with someone who sucks because they end up bringing my overall score down.

It shouldn't be that way, anyone that is connected (as long as they have a way to talk) should be able to talk online. Not 100% sure on that one though but that's the way it should work. As for normal play, I've been playing online quite a bit and I haven't had any problems at all communicating (besides the fact that the adapter for the strat is really really horrid). Other than that it's A-Ok :p Hopefully someone can answer this a bit better than I can, I'm really sleepy though so i'm going to bed now :(

So how do I talk online on the PS3 if that's even an option?

Remember, while they might "suck" to you, there's plenty of people who would play with you and think you suck.

Don't call me "elitest," which by the way is spelled 'elitist.' I'm referring to those individuals who fail three times during a song, thus rendering an imminent defeat upon myself and the rest of our band.

LOL now that is funny. Talk about prooving the point! Just kidding by the way: the irony appealed to me.

Wow.
Despite Rock Band being primarily a multiplayer cooperative game that takes a lot of skill to master, you're here on the forums criticising others for not being "up to your standards". And it hasn't even been out a week yet.
Truthfully mate, you'd be a lot happier just playing Guitar Hero. That way you're not being forced to play with any of us pesky humans.

Why are you being so hostile? My complaint is that some people play on difficulties that are too high for them resulting in three consecutive failures, which consequently end in the failure of the entire band. Now, I don't know about you, but unless one receive some sort of twisted gratification from failing, one probably would try his best to avoid this.
Anyway, my initial inquiry was as to why we should play online. You tell me. What difference does playing online incur that you can't get from having three other people in the same room?
