Whenever I use the mic, I get all the singing parts, and that works just fine. But when a tambourine/cowbell section appears, I am sure that I am getting the notes, but only about one in every twenty notes works! I have tried adjusting the mic sensitivity, calibrating the system, and many methods of activating it, like hitting it against my hand, tapping it with my finger, or even just yelling. Does anyone know what's wrong? It really sucks getting 0-5% on every tambourine section.

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I get the same thing. Know what it is? It's the mike... just like a typical microphone, sometimes the sound lags in getting to your console... which doesn't happen with the other controllers. Therefore - there's like a HALF Second delay only for the mike on most systems. This is why you would get a 100% score on the tamborine if you hit it half a second early every time. I've trained to play the tambourine/cowbell off beat just to get the score - sucks really, cuz the drums throw me off while I do that.
This is also the reason why when you have short varied notes in the beginning of a phrase, it's difficult to match those first ones because the console hasn't gotten the sounds yet - but the long notes will be fine.
And you can't calibrate to fix it, cuz then you THROW OFF the other instruments.
I REALLY hope they do something to fix it. If it's just my mike, I might send it back in for a new one. Is it just me??? Or are other people experiencing this problem?

I have a quick question, I was reading a yahoo review and it said that you could use your XBOX live headset to sing into it is this true? and if it is how would you play the parts where you have to hit the mic?

According to the game (it actually mentioned this DURING game play while waiting for the song to load), any usb microphone should work. If your XBOX live headset is USB, then it should work fine. As for the tambourine/cowbell, the game just tries to detect you hitting the mike - short abrupt sounds. so just slightly tap the mouthpiece of your headset, and in theory, that should do the trick! Hope that helps.

If you have a PS Eye (mic/camera) connected, disconnect it--this causes major issues with the vocals (since its' mics are competing with the RB one) and might help.

Oh, wow, I was having this problem as well and wondering if I was crazy. I'd be smokin' the vocals and completely failing the solos -- for a percussionist, that's really depressing :( It also seems like I do much better in some songs than in others, to the point that I was wondering if it was a factor of some songs being too loud for the strikes to be picked up. o_o (That may not make any sense.. I don't know, I didn't have any other explanation, lol.)
Lag, eh? I'm not sure I want to have to "learn" to play off-beat.. :/ I wonder if this is something that could be fixed with.. maybe.. a shorter cable? Changes to the sound-recognition software?

This seems to be the BIGGEST issue next to broken instruments... I'm not sure if HMX has issued a statement on the broken controllers, but just the same we NEED an explanation for this mic lag issue.... I'm a singer, and this was the most appealing part of the game for me. With this issue persisting, the game is unplayable with mic. PLEASE HMX FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!
