I think i preferred the old fret button over these new high tech futuristic looking ones. Hopefully it grows on me. Also a bit upset that theres no way to tell if your hitting a crash or tom on drums anymore... still looks pretty awesome though.

EDIT: The actual band graphics look touched up some too, which is good to see. And I'm loving the actual fret board designs, like the prints on them... just not the actual frets... yet.

Aw, I thought the drum buttons were cool, along with the older layout. The designs on the fretboards are a plus, though, and the graphics DO look better. I guess I'll deal. :)

Definitely. But at the same time, I can imagine that making it seem harder, like you have a smaller window in which to hit the note. It's all perception though.

Two things strike me about the new interface:

1. Stop monkeying with the fret note gems! Rock Band and GH3 seem determined to depart from the most clear and accurate note schema out there. Plus, I don't see how you're going to be able to discern ho-po notes from regular ones with the new scheme. Maybe it would be interesting if the gem shape was customizable in the user options.

2. Makes more sense IMHO to give the foot petal it's own "gem" rather than a bar. I don't get the bar, I don't like the bar, the bar is the enemy. Plus its big, ugly, and orange. I think a 5th circular gem slot on the end would be nice, and make it PURPLE. (purple, starts with a P, like pedal, it's great logic)


The rest of the visuals look great, it looks like they're trying to make the fretboards less intrusive. (ie: can't use Pandora in GH2 because of that terrible blue background) I am amazed they're able to fit all the information for 4 players very concisely on the screen... no wasted real estate there.

I love the new look, at first I was like why did you change it, but then looking at it again, it definetly makes it "Rock Band!" not just Guitar Hero with a Drum kit and Vox you know.

I like the bar idea, however i do agree that it's lookin' a bit big and ugly in these new screenshots.

Huh? The fret boards have a pattern on them, and they are transparent so you (or mostly other people watching) can see whats going on behind them on stage.
