I'm genuinely curious about this.
1. How is your hand eye coordination in other activities?
2. Can you hit a baseball being thrown more than 60 MPH?
3. Can you pat your head and rub your belly at the same time?
4. Can you dance?
5. Are you a good driver?
6. Can you drive manual?
7. How long have you payed drums on RB?
8. How long until you got the hang of the foot pedal?
Thanks

The drums are hard because you're actually playing a real instrument. I'm sure if they substituted the 5 fret guitar that we're all used to with a guitar that has 6 buttons across on 22 frets, people would be complaining about the difficulty of that too.
Unlike Guitar Hero (or guitar and bass parts on rockband), you're actually trying to play on a 5 drum set just like some of the best drummers around play on their full sets.
I personally don't think the drumming is "too hard" for the reasons listed above, but I'll answer anyway:
1. pretty good
2. possibly, but it wouldn't go very far.
3. yeah, sometimes after a second or two
4. i can dance like a white boy
5. yes
6. yes, my whole life
7. 2 days
8. first day (I've played a real drum set (many years ago), only moderately well, but good enough to get the basics of the RB version right away.)

The drums are not hard, you get the same weird feeling playing them as you do playing guitar... not quite full interactivity, it feels like all this work your doing to hit the pads at the right time is just to keep a prerecorded track playing smoothly... but it is still a hell of a lot of fun.
I play guitar and am an avid drum noodler (not actually a drummer, I know I suck), I was rocking on Hard within 4 or 5 hours, my brother (who used to play drums alot) is probably the best I know so far, he can complete half of the songs on hard. It took him about the same length of time. The drummer from my band is actually having trouble with it because the fills are over simplified and he just can't take it easy, I'm sure once he knows the songs he will be as unstoppable a force on plastic drums as he is on the real deal.
All of the people I know who do not play drums or some other instrument cannot make it through any one song on easy. Not even close. So if you have no rhythm or understanding of how drums work, yeah, you have a lot of practice ahead of you, but If you can without thinking play a basic 4/4 beat easily than you will be having a blast and picking it up very quickly. Although that is a bit of a complaint, after 30+ songs I have not found one that breaks 4/4 timing at all... I don't think anyways, correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe the harder ones will have some odd timings.
I am certain that 99% of complaints regarding the drums functionality is directly related to the rhythmic abilities of the complainees... or maybe i'm wrong.

My husband had severe issues playing drums on the PS3 bundle - it was crazy. He hated it and felt like he sucked. Then we exchanged our bundle for the XBOX version (due to that stupid guitar strum issue) and he picked up the drums in NO TIME. I honestly think the PS3 peripherals or the PS3 game is totally messed up. We have played the XBOX version all day with zero issues, it is truly awesome!!!!! He could barely get through a drum song on easy with PS3 and he's racking up 5 stars on medium immediately. Just thought this might help some of you that think it's you... it might not be.
