Can we sell the game back to the company for 180 bucks cause I found you don't even have to sing just go somewhat falseto and flux your coo's with the arch of the words and boom welcome to 90% land.

I am going to say put a better vocal engine first or give us our money back

1. Play on Expert
2. No, you can't.
3. You need a life if this bothers you.

It bothers me because I paid for the game so I should get a product that does not suck if they had of put better demo's out I wouldn't of bought this game.

I've posted this fact like 10 times already on the boards, but here it is again:

state of the art voice recognition technology can barely recognize words when you slowly and clearly speak them, never mind when you are singing. Additionally, a human can't always understand what a singer is saying, so what should the game try to recognize exactly? Kurt Cobain would fail singing Smells Like Teen Spirit if the game tried to make him sing recognizable lyrics.

Every other karaoke game on the market does the exact same thing.

It sucks because its Karaoke?

Thats what you should of seen before the fact.

You try and make a better game where you actually have to sing the words.

By the way, ALL karaoke games use the same system. Try expert. You really have to nail the song, lyrics included.

Yup, you're absolutely right. Technically, for any of the parts that are pitch based, you don't actually have to get the words right, just the pitch and length. There are phoneme parts that you actually do need to say the right words.

As Sean has said previously on these boards though, in the early builds of the game, they had both pitch and phoneme turned on, and they determined it was borderline cruel and unusual punishment for the vocalists. What you'll actually find though, is most people associate pitch with the actual word, so by singing the right words they'll get the right pitch. Science is cool like that.

Just because you don't have to doesn't mean you shouldn't sing the right words. Does the game not forcing you to sing the right words mean that you shouldn't try and force yourself?

Please show them my way I will give it to them half cost then...Really if any of you that have friends that want the game but don't want to pay 180 for it I will come down in price just to recover my loss and wasted time

I don't get it. You bought the game JUST for the mic? Have you ever played another singing game? They're all the same.

No I bought it for the drums and I figured the mic might of been good cause all I was hearing was hype...Plus I played the drums at our local best buy and had a blast but now after beating the tour with the drums and really no interest to play a ton online the game just kinda sucks and I want to jump out of the money pit before I have to pay 5 bucks for songs and most likely songs I could care less about but its new songs or its the same old songs from the devlopers...If more pop rock was in the game I would stay and play but it's a scrub to me now...So really if you know somebody who wants it and does not want to pay 180 for the whole box set...Mine is 2 days old and I'll sell cheaper

"Don't even have to sing the words"

What is the fun and skill in that. Obviously you aren't interested in the game otherwise you would put forth the effort to actually sing the songs.

I blow at singing, but I still try. Word for word.

Dude, Voice Recognization is not advanced enough to fully use on Windoze w/o it being a pain, and you expect it to work on Rock Band?? Hellz no, they never said you have to sing the lyrics, they stated it's pitch and timing sensitive. Just have fun making up your own lyrics, it's more creative and funny anyways.

We actually do have Phoneme detection in there on the talking parts of songs. It detects consonants and vowels. Pretty impressive tech. Doing pitch detection and phoneme detection simultaneously, though, is a bit rough to balance so that it is both exacting and also allows different accents and voice types. That's why we do one at a time.

Phoneme = "The smallest phonetic unit in a language that is capable of conveying a distinction in meaning, as the m of mat and the b of bat in English."

I not going to complain about the vocals being too easy b/c I couldnt pass one of easiest songs on easy and I tried it twice. It was late at night and everyone was sleeping so I was trying to be quiet so that could be a reason for my failure

Thanx for the clarification Sean and major props to your programmers for actually going through writing and testing all of that code. If you have the time to ask sometime, do you think it's possible that the PS3 could actually handle both in the not too distant future with some creative solutions to the cell processing?

It isn't so much whether it could pull it off processor-wise. It is whether you can conceivably have both going at the same time and have it be any real fun for the player and not just a really frustrating experiment in precision (as opposed to giving some berth and letting the player have a good time.)

I think the singing part is actually alot more 'sophisticated' than I originally anticipated. If it's not up to your standards, sorry to hear that. The rest of us, however, seem to be having fun with it.
