I have the xbox 360 version, and I may be an idiot, but can somebody explain how to attach the headset to the guitar or drum to use as mic?
I think I've got the headset attached to adapter correctly and I think I've plugged the adapter into the drum, but it doesn't seem to register anything I say.
I dont even know how to attach the adapter to the guitar. Can anyone help?

If you want to use the headset as mic, so you can also do vocals, you will need to plug it into its own seperate xbox 360 controller.

That paper came in the box and it shows the cable attaching to the guitar for the mic but I couldn't find anywhere to plug anything into the guitar.
Plug the headset into a controller and set it on the floor or something next to you so it still reaches your head.
Thats the only thing I could figure out to do.

I didnt' see anywhere to plug it into the guitar either. There's a place on the drum set, but it didn't register anything. i understand what you're doing, but i think i'll pass on that solution, as i'd like to move around instead of being restricted by the controller. thanks for the idea though.

In the Guitar there is a small hole look on the side where the strap is hooked not towards the neck but towards the butt.

Well the manual clearly states that you can also use a "standard xbox 360 headset" as a mic. Theres no documentation that i've been able to find on this other than how to install the adapter for the headset. I have not been able to get it to work after pluging it into a controller, drumpad, or guitar.
This leads me to question whether or not the headset can actually be used for Rockband or is it only for the purpose of playing online with Rockband. Anyone care to clarify?

I'm wondering the same thing, I read a review on Yahoo where they said that you could use the 360headset as a mic that's where I got the story from but I haven't been able to make it work either.

The way that it's worked for me is after I've been using the regular mic (i.e.- when my wife is sick of playing and I want to keep going).
Anyway, after you unplug the regular mic, it might say something on screen about not having a mic connected. Plug in your headset mic into the controller you were using for the regualr mic. It will tell you to test it and it should work.
Try doing some songs singing and playing drums!!!!

thanks for the link. i guess it makes some sense that if you plug headset into the other instrument it may not know to let you play to roles. it's kinda lame though to have to hook up to the controller to use the headset. i think i might rather just go and get a mic stand and attach the mic to it and play both instruments.

i agree that it is silly that they have a headset plugin for the controller but you cant use it to play and sing at the same time.
